Awful fight. Walsh isn't the best potential challenger from Britain, and I think he'd get beaten by Murray, Rees, Matthews, Crolla and Mitchell. I rate Walsh and I think he's a decent prospect but he went to war with Appleby a couple of fights ago which shows what kind of level he's one. It's a complete mismatch and Burns should be fighting someone like Abril, Acosta or Molina next. Not great fights themselves but perfectly adequate. A fight with Walsh is not.

Not only is it a bad fight, it's poor management of Walsh too. He's a good prospect but a prospect nonetheless. He needs to be active and moved on steadily. Instead, he's fighting twice a year, probably half of what he needs, and he's getting rushed into a title shot against a guy who is clearly a better fighter. Why not put Walsh in with someone like Crolla or Matthews to test how good he is? Put him through his paces in good learning fights. He'll get paid well for a fight with Burns but if he gets slaughtered or embarrassed, it'll harm his potential in the long term.

Just awful all round. Sadly, it's not a shock.

Against TBA with no-one else scheduled on the card according to BoxRec. I already checked before making that post. My feeling is Frank will try and make the fight with Sauerland.

Wazza has had trouble selling tickets for his big fights in London (if you take out Haye/Chisora) so if you get Walsh/Burns on the bill youre gonna get the farmy army or whatever they are called.

Burns v Walsh is an easy night for Burns just to keep him ticking over before the sterner test comes Spring 2013 as hes always in the gym, nothing wrong with that, hat off to Burns for wanting to keep busy and keeping the fight scene in Scotland alive with a bit of excitement

Would much rather him fight Rees, next to **** all chance of that happening though.

He needs to step up, its getting boring now.

because Mitchell was number 1 cotender with the WBO, now it looks like Broner is now mandatory contender however he is still in talks with DeMarco for the WBC title so the rankings will change again.

I think Billy Joe will be fighting for the vacant British title.

And Frank wonders why he gets stick? FFS, this is an awful title defense.

Walsh has decent wins over Awuku and Appleby but he struggled in both fights, Burns will impose his size on Walsh straight away, I can see another early stoppage win for Burns.

Even when they haven't earned it? That's nonsense, Walsh has wins over Commonwealth level opposition, Frank steered him away from Buckland down at SFW, rightly so.

Buckland will go after the European if he beats Foster Jnr. I reckon we will get Walsh/Sykes in new year for the British belt.
