Overall best of the bunch regardless of weight class Best Defense Hardest puncher all things being equal
The problem, I think, is that "The Murderer's Row" isn't an agreed upon list of fighters. Charles was a member, probably. Moore was a member. But most people don't include them - i doubt you want to include them? Probably a list of fighters would help.
I can't help you with the specifics of this ,to me and I suspect many others , several are essentially names on Box Rec , great and gifted fighters certainly, but sepia skeletons with not enough flesh on them to enable us to form a definitive ,comparative analysis about.
If that's Elmer Ray he'd be the hardest puncher and possibly the hardest puncher p4p. I suspect Burley would be the hardest to hit, but it could easily have been Williams or Booker.
I dont think there is sufficient film of these non champions to really make a decision one way or the other. They were so obviously world class/ champion calibre but the nature of their being avoided means if and when they were filmed, are these filmed fights the held back versions or the "for real" versions? It is a great shame.
Almost impossible to quantify, what footage is there of Williams,Towne,Chase,Wade,Lytell, Booker? There's hardly any of Burley and Marshall for that matter, Burley and Marshall would be my top two for power. I'll guess Williams was the best defensive fighter, and the overall best fighter was Burley.Just guessing.
