Well Rollin I used to be a big fan until someone pointed out to me he fought like someone with bad hands and that he’d set up right hands he wouldn’t throw. I couldn’t let my minds eye go blind to it and stopped watching.
Some people think he deserved to lose the first Cervantes fight, or that the scores at the very least were impossible due to the footage that does exist of it.
Rollin, I wrote this a year or two ago, but it's relevant when it comes to Loche: "I've had a lot of mixed feelings on Loche. When I was really starting out reading magazines and absolutely everything I could on every fighter, I thought Loche was one of the greatest. I suppose I still do to a point, but now I question everything after seeing more of him on film and more in-depth research. I started questioning things when I saw that 15th round against Cervantes from their first fight. All I heard from people was what a brilliant round Loche had and how he won every round the same. Now I'm not a member of the flock of sheep and I trust my baby-blues. I watched the round but said to myself, "Wait, Cervantes won that round." Loche mugged, made faces, played to the Argentine audience, showed excellent defense and didn't fight at all. Cervantes was only touching him with his jab, but he was the one forcing the fight, making the fight. I don't give points for making faces. Moreover, I started connecting the dots to the Cervantes fight in Loche's defense against Adolph Pruitt. It was almost the exact same thing. Pruitt's corner claiming there would be no fight if it wasn't for Pruitt. Again, a one-sided decision for Loche. It seemed like Loche couldn't lose in Buenos Aires. But when he did fight outside of the safe confines, he loses to Frazer. In fact, throughout his (app.) 130 fight career, he only fought 4 times outside his country with a record of 1-2-1. I don't think his style traveled well without the Argentines cheering on his antics. Perhaps if we had more film on him we could really delve into the substance of Nicolino Loche."
You trying to tell me that if Fighter A hits Fighter B and Fighter B makes a face or shakes his head and smiles, that Fighter B didn’t win the exchange?
I still assume every fight in Argentina to this day is a draw unless I get notarized, translated scorecards overnighted to me.
I was trolling. But Argentina is so corrupt. I don't trust his record. I also saw that round that he supposedly dominated Cervantes. Cervantes won that round. Locche didn't land a punch. I wouldn't be surprised if Cervantes actually won that whole fight similarly.
