Please remove Floyd from all P4P lists.

Something tells me that if Floyd had fought Kostya and Vernon by the time he was in their weight divisions, there would still be a thread here saying that Floyd only fights past prime fighters and names them as examples.

 

So you're saying someone that walks around at 170 looked sluggish because they had to bulk up to 147 for a fight?

Hatton's problem when he went to 147 and fought Collazo was that he couldn't bully him like he did with the smaller men at 140, it was still the same Hatton as the weight hadn't effected his speed but he found going in with a much bigger man tougher compared to him being the huge JWW outmuscling the smaller guys in his division.

So no I don't think Hatton's skills or speed left him when he went to 147, it was just that he couldn't handle a much heavier opponent in Collazo the way he would of liked.

Mayweather was different as even though he had moved up to 154 in his last fight he was still a small welterweight, in his previous 2 fights at welterweight he weighed in at 146 (vs Judah) and 149 (vs Baldomir) on fightnight which is less than what Hatton weighed in against Malignaggi, so for me it was still a prime Hatton that was a huge JWW fighting a prime Mayweather that was still a small welterweight.

They were both prime and both of a similar weight, the only difference is that Hatton was out of his league against Mayweather.

Here's a clue as to what I am saying. Hatton looked his best when he trained and got his body to 140. He obviously looked different when all he had to go down to was 147, as opposed to 140. Even Hatton himself admitted 147 was too much. I don't know why you guys are aruging that point.

 

Floyd retired Genaro Hernandez, that by itself refutes this argument.

 

Feel free to debate the point with me if you like, I was a Hatton fan for years when he was active and being from the same country I've been lucky enough to follow his professional career from nearly the beginning.

That makes me feel confident in being able to back up my side of any debate regarding him so fire away.

As I've told you Hatton's problem with his previous fight at 147 was that he couldn't bully Collazo because he was so much bigger than the usual guys he pushed around at 140, his speed wasn't affected at all at 147 and if you watch the earlier rounds against Mayweather you will notice this.

Mayweather wasn't a bigger guy like Collazo and if anything I'd guess Hatton outweighed him on fightnight even though the weights were never released, the difference was mayweather was just levels above him in ability.

 

I see what you are saying, and agree some. But still, Hatton had no business at 147. Plain and simple. Not with his frame.

 

Not really, Mayweather was a career SFW and he was older when he moved up to welterweight than Hatton was when he went up and won a title.

 

I agree that Hatton had no business staying at 147, his style of bullying opponents wouldn't have worked against the bigger guys in that division but Mayweather wasn't one of those bigger guys so I don't see a problem with him taking on Floyd or other smaller guys in that division like Judah.
