I wouldnt totally argue it dude! I just think a prime Holyfield would be a notch up from Ali '71. I know that's a bold statament but Ali wasn't at th top of his game that night and underestimated Frazier to an extent. Plus, Evander is a stronger puncher than Ali and would get Frazier's respect!

    Regardless close and dynamite fight!

holyfield was victim of a referee who DQ'd him. Judges had nothing to do with it.

I loved watching Holyfield fight but I think you're overrating his abilities if you think he would just tear through Marciano. Cooper was less skilled and smaller and gave Holyfield hell.

And some think that there two fightss should have been split 1-1 with Lewis getting robbed in the 1st and Holyfield winning the second.

If he never won a fight....His confidence walking into the ring for Tyson I alone is enough to be highly regarded.....

Sorry Boo, the 88 Olympics were the first Olympics I watched but I found this about the Holyfield Bronze...

"In the second round of his semi-final match with Kevin Barry, Holyfield was disqualified. Referee Gligorije Novicic called for a "break", which instructs the fighters to stop punching. Holyfield, apparently, did not hear the call and threw a punch which dropped Barry to the canvas. When Barry was unable to continue, Holyfield was disqualified. A disappointed Holyfield was awarded the bronze medal. How bad was this decision? Bad enough that the referee later apologized for being out of position when he made the "break" call. Bad enough that Gold medalist Anton Josipovic of Yugoslavia pulled Holyfield to the top of the podium to join him during the medal ceremony."

    Well bro.

I feel that Holyfield is quicker, more skilled, has a better jab, has better foot speed, has better combinations, has better defence, has better ring generalship, faced better competition, is a better athlete and the list goes on!

The only intangibles Marciano has equal to him are heart and stamina which wouldn't be enough.

PS - Cooper was bigger than Holyfield. 210 - 215 I cheated on Boxing rec by the way and the only round Cooper won was the 3rd and Holyfield almost stopped him in the same round.

doubt it !!! Tyson was undisciplined, un motivated, and half the time in poor conditioned after leaving Rooney.. After leaving Roony Tyson was more of a Jeff Lacey fighter that thought he could rely on his power alone to win fights.

The tyson of the mid 80 was a combination of discipline, speed, power and skill..
