As I said Liston should be judged on his prime performances circa 1959 versus Williams.

    ... Okay

The only thing I can concede is that Liston could fire that jab like a piston. Foreman pushed through with his jab. I still think Foreman is faster, and Liston is just a product of straighter and shorter punches. But then compare it to this Foreman fight.

Foreman fires that jab good here. And his combos although wide and reckless are no doubt faster.

Liston is faster and the better technical fighter. The more powerful fighter? Foreman. Stronger fighter? Foreman. Greater fighter? I lean toward Foreman slightly.

The video of Liston is shot from a very low angle which makes him appear faster.

I'll concede that George looks faster here than he did against Frazier etc.
I though it was funny seeing the ref saying "if you are knocked down ,you must take an 8 count", whilst looking straight at Kirkman

I thought Liston had the faster jab & quicker single shots in close but Foreman`s combinations looked faster to me & the question was who had the faster HANDS so I went with Foreman.

Ps. Its really very difficult to judge on these 2 vid`s alone, there doesnt look a great deal between them either way TBH.

Possibly we might take into consideration who was standing in front of them, Kirkman was hardly as dangerous a fighter as Williams,it's possible Foreman felt free to throw with abandon ,not worrying about what was coming back.
Williams undoubted power might have made Liston more hesitant.

Frazier was a craftier and harder target to hit than Patterson.

That said, Sonny was definitely faster in those clips.

In terms of "whose fists flew faster upon impacting the target?", i'd say they're pretty much equal. In terms of the time between starting the punch and landing it, Liston is faster.

The only exception seems to be the jab. Foreman's jab, while technically not really good, was quite fast. Faster than Liston's, i'd say.
