Around where? I don't know a single Mexican who disowns Canelo (not saying there isn't any), and I'm mexican, live in Los Angeles (mostly Mexican) and associate myself with many Mexican fight fans...

Of course everyone WANTS to root for their own countrymen. But it seems to me that REAL boxing fans won't let country of origin override things like styles, skills, and attitude when choosing who to be a fan of.

Us Mexicans are proud people and we would support fighters like Chavez, ODLH, Canelo who prove to fight anyone over fighters like Golovkin who make excuses as to why he is unwilling to compromise to make a fight happen.

 

To be honest man it sound to me like because you live in L.A., you are trying too hard to prove how mexican you are by saying things like that while overlooking the fact that Canelo is trying to weight drain a guy who is merely trying to compete for a belt that belongs to his own division.

I don't have to prove I'm Mexican.. In fact, I consider myself American as I was born here, raised here, educated here, and live here in the U.S.

But I have strong ties and roots in Mexico. My grandparents live there, half my family still live there, I frequent Mexico multiple times a year, most people I know are Mexican, and I have many Mexican traditions embedded in me.

Canelo is a prize fighter and like most prize fighters, he is also a business man. Canelo has paid his dues, far more tha Golovkin. He has taken the harder, riskier fights, and he is only 25 years old.

Canelo has EARNED the right to be on the drivers seat. Canelo has never fought at 160, and if he feels 155 is better suited, despite me not liking CWs, I guess he can make that demand considering he has proven to take on all comers.

I will hold GGG to the same level of expectation, he needs to take on all comers regardless of 5 pounds here or 4 ppounds there.. He already missed the Ward, Lara, and is looking like he is willing to miss the Canelo boat because he won't budge from 160.

 

When the Chavez-DelaHoya fight wouldn't get shown on TV because it was the biggest fight ever. It was because of Chavez NOT DeLaHoya.
I went to a local arena to watch it on the big screen and 99% of the fans were Mexican and 98.5% were saying "kill Oscar".
They want a fighter with heart. Canelo is screwing up because of Oscar's BS.
