Wayne McCullough deserves credit for being the most flexible when it comes to weight regarding championship fights. He would go through division like nothing and still fight his heart out.
Zaragoza is mentioned far too little by modern fans for my liking. Talk about maximizing every last bit of your potential when you're not a physical marvel to begin with. Lot of fighters could learn a lot from him and learn how to rebuild and come back stronger after a loss.
Nacho said if he had 100 Zaragoza's he would have to build his own Hall of Fame...!!! Claimed Zaragoza was his hardest working boxer and most dedicated champion...!!!
Great fight I expected McCullough to win and was shocked with how well Zaragoza fought. Even hurting McCullough bad with a body shot at one point. McCullough as the younger man finished really strong but it wasn't enough to pull it out.
I remember being devastated as a kid watching this as McCullough was a big hero of mine. Still one of the great chins.
Even against the mighty El Terrible Morales, the old war horse Zaragoza did not go down quietly and displayed some serious boxing ability. Don't let that receding hairline fool you. He gave both young guns Morales and McCullough all they could handle. Great fights both of them.
