Better defence, Mayweather. But Whitaker was better all around.

Both fighters are/were difficult to watch (boring styles). But Whitaker fought everyone, never coming up with excuses to not fight a tough fighter. Whitaker is a greater champion for that reason. Not sure what would have happened had they fought one another. Probably would have been a bad styles matchup for there to have been much excitement.

I'm going to say Floyd, because Whitaker was knockdown more and hit more. But yes Whitaker was the better all around boxer

Sweet Pea, better and wayyyyyyyyyyy more beautiful to watch. He makes non-boxing fan appreciate his art. That is saying alot.

I feel bias living down the road from the man, but how can you not say Sweet Pea? I just wish Dorin Spivey was worthy of him as a trainer (still, Calvin Brock is).

Sweet Pea. One of the best defensive fighters I've seen, those clips of him avoiding a DLH's punches are amazing. Not to say that Floyd doesn't have a very, very good defence either.

There was something supernatural about Pernells defence. Its like he knew what punches were coming. The way he used slip/duck/weave through those punches...what can i say?! Dont get me wrong Mayweather has terrific defence and it is effective. Its just a preference really

I got to say Floyd all around.....I seen Whitaker get knocked down....not Floyd so its more than just being flashy (like avoid Oscars jabs).....

Yeah how he could read so many punches was simply staggering, I mean reading your opponent throwing 3-4 punches maybe fair enough, but when Oscar's throwing 12-15 quick punches at him from all different angles and he dodges them all it's quite brilliant. As you say aswell it's a matter of preference, I prefer watching Pernell slip and weave in and out of 15 punches than watch Floyd cover up and absorb some shots on the ropes.
