Pac fans are delusional and think he can move up in weight and beat guys like PBF and Hoya not to mention he has been beaten and has many flaws the blueprint is there. PBF hasn't been beaten and I've never stated he could move to MW and beat Kelly or Calzgahe at 160 or 168. Not to mention I acknowledged that ATGs like Hearns and Pea would beat PBF big difference.
PBF is undefeated- is that your only point here? Big ****ing deal, so is Joe Mesi and Sven Ottke. You can argue about it all night and all day, but history will recognize the fact that Mayweather does not have a great resume. He never chased and got a 50/50 superfight, like Leonard-Hearns or Leonard-Duran, or even a Jones Jr-Toney or De La Hoya-Trinidad. The best guys he's fought have been decent level opposition like Judah, Hatton, Corrales, and a 35-yr-old DLH. That is not the stuff ATGs are made of, and history will recognize that.
You idiot he never had a 50/50 superfight because he had no peer.:deal He would still be favored over every boxer in the world from 154 and down.:deal Funny all this coming from a Pac fan a guy who's never beaten an elite prime fighter. He was beaten by a past prime EM drew with JMM was outboxed and got a gift in the rematch and would be absolutely slaughtered by PBF at 130 or 135. The guy is only P4P #1 because PBF retired.hi:
these kind of threads are stupid, if you pick floyd you're a fanboy and if you pick chavez you're a hater.
atsch Floyd has 4 KO's in his last 7 fights above 135. Sweet Pea had 4 Ko's in a decade. 2 coming against Jerry Smith and Benny Baez. Guys who had as many losses as wins. I.E Journeyman. Pull yourself together.
I'm not so sure Pea would officially beat PBF. I'd say this fight would go to the cards, and Pea would get robbed. Honestly, I think one of Sweetpea's best displays came against Chavez. Not that he was physically prime, but he was focused and had one of those fights that he took very seriously. Part of Pea's problem I think was focus, because he deffinately was one of the most gifted boxers I've ever watched. As we can say Chavez was beaten by Pea, unofficially.. We can also say that Mayweather was beaten by Castillo. No ifs, ands or buts about it. He lost in just about every way you could look at that fight. Cards, punchstats, ring generalship, EVERYTHING. Some of the things that have been said about Floyd, while they aren't full truths, there is some merit to them. When they said Zab would be too powerful, Zab scored a knockdown and some good shots against Floyd. But is Zab the same fighter who has accurate, devastating power on the level of Hearns, or even Tszyu? When they said Oscar would be too good a boxer, and too big, in part it held true also when you look at how ugly that fight was. On one hand, you have a version of Oscar who really doesn't like to risk being hit and sometimes has trouble to commiting to risky situations, against another guy that is very afraid of being hit who basically sat around and pot shotted all night, didn't really start looking good in the fight until an older, out of shape Oscar tired. When considering a Prime Chavez, we are talking about a guy who forced exchanges and was willing to take the best shot a guy could dish out and kept comming. Rosario could not keep Chavez honest, and neither could uncle Roger. This is an aspect that is often overlooked, since Chavez was stopped later on in his career by lesser punchers such as Tsyzu and Oscar.
Pernell has 17 KO's in 40 fights at 135 and above, whereas Floyd has 5 KO's in 12 fights 135 and above. That is pretty equal percentage-wise. Both fighters were boxers who rarely relied on power, Pea even less, as he was simply a better boxer in the center of the ring and wouldn't allow himself to be cornered. When both fighters put their bodies into it they showed their power, Whitaker with one punch KO's over guys like Lomeli and Nazario, Floyd with Hatton. Neither are great punchers, neither has a huge edge in power. Pernell does have the clear edge in boxing ability, however.
I agree with Relentless the hater/fanboy is old, but damn the fanboy theory is real, I mean these mother ****ers just dont get it, I really think a huge portion of the fan boys are new to the sport and somehow are inspired by Floyds skills in the ring behavior outside of the ring. in other words I think they want to be like Floyd they want money and they want that life style, they want to be able to fork out money to dirty strippers hang out with Fidy **** like that. Note to the fan boys, sucking Floyds balls will not make you rich.
And how many of those 17 KO's came against fighters that could be defined as journeymen? And we arent talking early in his career, we ar talking 3, 4, 5 years into his career? I dont know if a guy who is 0-3 could properly be considered a journeyman, that might offend one of em. You insinuate that Mayweather is forced into the ropes, when that is simply apart of his game. He fights off the ropes brilliantly and the hardest shots he's landed in his last 2 fights have come from counterpunching off the ropes. "Nearly" dropped a 154lb fighter with a counter punch against the ropes. Whitaker has more natural boxing ability sure. But Mayweather is better technically atleast from a defensive standpoint and far more focused before and after fighting. If he chose to do so he'd have a far longer career then Pernell.
His skills in the ring. I could give a **** less about what he does outside the ring. I dont need to see him carrying around an American flag and wearing American flag shorts into the ring, and have him proclaiming to be fighting for the "homeland" every time he's on the podium. I respect his talent as a boxer, and love watching him fight simply as.
Danny Rand, Floyd did not almost knock out De La Hoya, thats a crock of ****, and in boxing Almost doesnt count, almost only counts in Horseshoes and hand grenades:good
When your eyes are glazed over, your head and body headed for the canvas, thats almost in my book. De La Hoya was punching while asleep. One more timed uppercut by Mayweather and it would have been curtains.
atsch you were close enough to see his eyes glazed, Wow I am impressed you must have eagle eyes or some ****. your really ****ing stupid son, I am serious your just about as stupid as a three dollar bill. Wait a min, then that means Corley almost knocked out Floyd so did Zab Wow I get it now thanks Danny
