Poll: Dawson vs Arreola at HW

Just because Dawson has Mike Tyson's voice & lisp doesn't mean he'll transition well to HW.

In all seriousness though, Arreola is not an atypical, slow, plodding HW. I don't see Dawson box-running his way to a decision, nor do I see him uncovering some sudden HW punching-power to discourage Arreola's advance.

 

chris if he did it without taking any other fights...jumping up to hw is not easy...even against a one dimensional fighter like Chris

 

it's not a bad thought and a reasonable fantasy fight but upon closer inspection yeah, dawson has only average durability for a light heavy. at heavyweight, in this day and age of monster heavies, he'd be goddamn fragile.

having said that, arreola is slow enough, flat footed enough, and goes in such straight lines that a mobile, active fighter MIGHT be able to out move him for 12

 

Dawson has an average chin at Light Heavyweight. I can see Arreola stopping him all the way up at Heavyweight.

 

There is no way Dawson would allow Arreolas fat ass tag him. Dawson would pot shot his way to an easy decision.

 

This fight reminds me of Vassily Jirov moving up to heavyweight to fight Joe Mesi. Now I know that Jirov is not Dawson, and Mesi is not Arreola, but the point is, despite Jirov being a good power-punching boxer at cruiserweight, he lost to Mesi (a heavyweight journeyman at best) because he just did not have the body of a heavyweight which Mesi took advantage of. I'd like to think that Dawson moves around, and just outfoxes Arreola through 12 rounds to get a decision, but I think Arreola will eventually catch up or corner Dawson and land some meaningful punches. If Jirov vs. Mesi tells you anything, then Arreola should win this fight over Dawson. I just don't think Dawson has the body of a heavyweight to deal with Arreola's punches. Dawson has to gain at least 25 pounds to move up to heavyweight, and he does not have a large frame.

If Dawson could do what RJJ did, that would be amazing and awesome!

 

Arreola is so much stronger and bigger it's comical. Dawson is 10x the fighter Chris is, but he gets KTFO early. Even blocked head shots would rock Dawson.

 

Tired as hell Admek knocked him down. Areola weighs 250+ and has a huge frame.

How? The guy is a light heavyweight. Sure he is skilled, but he have NOTHING to measure him performing as HW.

 

Jirov's naturally bigger than Dawson

Mesi was more than a journeyman

Jirov was ****ing Mesi up the last couple rounds, had it been a 12 rounder he would have won.

Dawson could never fight HW, he'd get KO'd

 

I was rooting for Jirov. He almost won. I wonder what happened to him, I never followed much of his career after that.
