No chance it gets anywhere near 2 million in the UK alone. The market isn't big enough. The record PPV in the US is Mayweather-DLH, that did 2.4, maybe 2.5...now compare the populations, etc. You're looking at 1.1, 1.2 tops.
In American alone, about 150,000 tops. That might even be going overboard. No idea about the U.K. Quite curious though.
This fight could reach a million , it would be seen as a massive success if it goes beyond that one would think
Jack makes a good point! The general public just dont give a **** who Wlad is! His style hardly entertains you! The only reason Valuez did so well was due to it be marketed David vs Galiath this will just be another Haye fight in the Uk.
1m region. Surprised Sky haven't started the hype machine yet. They should use Setanta's advert, it was class. Anyone remember that? It had Haye chopping wood.
You are such an over sensitive little girl - ****ing hell. It's sad how emotionally attached you are to a man you do not know. Grow up will you? Anyway - as for the rest of your post, more shite. You clearly have no idea about Sky, or how they work. One thing Sky does do well is marketing (although i'm sure your global, multi-billion dollar electrical company could teach them a thing or two). This is the same company who sold Haye - Harrison. They could sell sand to an Arab in the desert. Sky will be hyping this fight to the extreme - they have hundreds of channels to use as an advertising platform, a 24 hour sports new channel, the connections to get Haye on every tv and radio show in the land. The are part of the same company which owns the most widely read newspaper. Ever hear of Rupert Murdoch? Trust me, everybody in the country will know about this fight. This still doesn't change the fact that there is a limit to the people who will buy it. Hatton is one of, if not the most popular British fighter of all time. Against Mayweather he was facing the best fighter in the World, a cocky, brash American. It was a classic good guy/bad guy fight - Sky marketed it very well, even airing HBO's 24/7 series. Everyone in the country knew about that fight. It sold about 1.2-4 million PPVs in a country of around 60 million people. That is pretty ridiculous considering that DLH-Mayweather is the US record, selling 2.4 mill PPVs in a country which has a population of 300 million people. So the point is that there is a limited audience to by boxing PPVs regardless of how well marketed they are. For example, if you're not a sports fan then you're not buying it - doesn't matter how many adverts, interviews or highlight reels you see on tv. Haye - Wlad would be a ****ing HUGE success if it equals the British PPV record set by Hatton. It has potential to sell more because of the UK friendly time the fight is at and it being for the heavyweight titke, but Haye is not Hatton and Wlad is certainly not Mayweather, so there's not a large amount of people paying to see the Brit shut that loud American up. I'd love to be wrong to and see the fight sell 2 mill, but I don't think it's that realistic. As someone said, that's the equivalant of 10 million buys in the USA. Some of you seem to think that because Brits have said this fight will be huge then it should sell like 2million - Why? Surely getting near or just breaking the all time UK PPV record is indicative of it being a huge fight? No doubt this will see me labelled a Wlad hater, again . . .
atsch You obviously have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Sky and Haye aren't good at marketing?
I am in two minds about whether to buy it just to watch Haye get sparked. I need a good undercard to convince me
you guys realise that there is only a population of around 60 Million here! Saying you expected 2 million buys is crazy. 2/60 = 3.3% of the country buying the PPV! Translate that to America's pupulation of around 300 Million, thats the equivalent of 10 Million USA PPV buys! You guys underestimate how significant 1 Million buys is in the UK! Pacquiao does just over 1 million buys in the USA, a country with 5 times the population as here. i suspect it will do around 1 million buys. which is a VERY VERY GOOD number
