You can sit on your mandatory position and wait for your rightful shot.

Or you can be like Joyce and fight Zhang, get smashed to bits twice, lose your mandatory position and have your career finished.

These are the choices boxers have to make, and what happened to Joyce is definitely going to play on Hrgovic's mind.

To be honest, if you can exaggerate in favour of the guy you're criticizing and still make a big impact with the argument, it seems all the stronger to me.

    You're right, of course.

The most avoided fighter of the division is awfully silent here. Maybe he isn't as avoided as everyone else seems to think?

Need to add another option - "sit on his large behind, do nothing and expect his career to magically blossom"

Well he is hardly yelling from the rooftops “give me a tough fight is he” so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s miller. He seems happy to sit on his mandatory and let his fans dribble on about him being the most avoided fighter etc.

And once again the avoided fighter myth proves to be a mirage...

    And yet it'll never die.

The avoided fighter doesn't exist - 99% of the time they're either pricing themselves out of fights because of greed or pride OR they're pricing themselves out of fights because they don't really want them.

If he really wanted good fights he'd have had them by now - he hasn't, so I have to assume he doesn't.

Disagree. A lot of top 10 heavies are not willing to take risky fights unless there is a massive amount of money involved. If your not a big draw that severely limits who will fight you. Wilder absolutely seems to have been avoiding dangerous opponents for example.

Not sure you do disagree, really...

Wilder's a case in point - claimed he was being avoided by Joshua, but consistently ducked that fight (despite huge amounts of money being on the table - far more than he could earn elsewhere), and ducked several other contenders who were interested in fighting him for years, too!

Yes, some of the top 10 are exactly as you say... But they're not being avoided by anyone - they're the ones doing the avoiding (and Hrgovic is a good example).
