with your comments here, i think you'll probably have some probs w/ calzaghe and hatton fans in this forum. and penden is definitely not going into the HOF even if it's current admission standards are quite low now.

I've been wondering the same thing for quite some time now. I think he's pretty much up there alongside Morales and Barrera. And no matter what happens from now on in that wont change anything before he retires. All 3 will be ranked as ATGs, just whoever is your favourite you will call the best.

    Absolutely.

Some people here wouldn't have watched a Barrera fight below Featherweight, and that's why I take these polls with a pinch of salt. Barrera had a long career at 122lb, but all of his best work happened at 126. He'll probably be appreciated more in 10 years.

Marquez does not have the resume to mess with either Barrera or Morales.

    1. Barrera
    2. Morales
    3. Marquez

I feel Erik and Marco are right next to one another on the ATG list. Marquez needs a big win. Even if he wins a world title at 140lb, he needs a big name because the best win he has so far is against a past prime Barrera.

Not yet but he is on pace to not only pass MAB and Morales but also Sanchez and Chavez as well.

Don't panic. Boxing fans get over excited in the moment, but after it all, perspective will prevail.

I would have Barrera and Morales above Lopez and Zarate, but below Olivares, Chavez, and Sanchez.

Olivares was the guy giving Arguello a boxing lesson until he gassed.

I've always thought that in terms of ability he was their equal and I woul dpick him over both of them in head to head matchups. Basedon his recent accomplishments I would say that he is about even with them but he is still not very faded so it's conceivable that he can pass them.

What really made Erik and Marco were their fights against each other.

Agree on this. Marquez is not really close to their level yet. He has only beaten about 7 world class fighters compared to about 14-15 for Barrrera and 12-13 for Morales. Those guys are a level below Sanchez and Chavez and a step below Lopez IMO. Marquez could maybe reach that level but time is not on his side even bearing in mind that he is a young 35!

I don't see how Lopez could be rated above the two, in my opinion. We bark on about his unbeaten record, and his technical ability, but he was fighting in no mans land for the best part of a decade. Barrera and Morales established themselves against some of the biggest names in Boxing, and looked resoundingly good in doing so. I'm not sure if Olivares even gets the nod for me. Barrera and Morales will only become more appreciated with time.
