To be fair he was pretty defensively and offensively slippery in his prime with smooth & subtle rolls, slips, and counters....but that element of his style was just never his priority.

This was when Shane was flat out joocin so its a tough call.

 

How is this even close SSM had like 9-10 LW title defenses and all but one was by TKO/KO. If the guy did jump 2 weight classes to chase Oscar he would be considered the GOAT at LW.

I Think JCC had only 2 or 3 solid wins at 135 Ramirez and Rasario? won was a super performance ad the other stopped on cuts.

 

Yeah, but you conveniently forgot to mention that those two wins for Chavez eclipse anything Mosley accomplished at the weight. When Phillip Holiday is your best win it puts your dominance into a little more perspective.

 

Mosley actually matches up well with JCC at 135 and would probably beat him there. He was bigger stronger faster with more power. What people also forget is that Mosley was a great body puncher at 135 he would have given JCC hell.

 

nah, john molina, golden johnson and lieghia were better. But I forgot about Holiday just checked Boxrec (see its good for something. . .lol) and he beat Jeff fenech so he was no slouch!

 

And how did Mosley beat Oscar de La Hoya the first go around? He outworked him. Neither was particularly hurt during the fight. But Mosley outhustled him.

There are plenty of comparisons between both relied on their natural speed. Whereas Taylor was a bit faster, Mosley was stronger and more durable.

Taylor was not a slick boxer. His defense was average. But he outworked and outhustled his opponents due to his natural athleticism. Basically the same as Mosley.

If Chavez tried to box Mosley inside he'd get bullied just as Margarito got bullied, only difference is, Margarito was a real welterweight. Chavez is a lightweight. Only chance Chavez has of winning this fight is to try to box Mosley from the outside which Cotto had to resort to to win their fight. And Chavez was more then capable of that. if he stood toe to toe with Mosley he gets shitcanned.

I think De la Hoya had the higher workrate in both fights if my memory serves me correctly.

 

Mosley UD at 135, might get a KO, his power, physicality, speed, and ATG chin, gives him the advantages in the fight.

 

thumbsup I really would not have been surprised if Shane won. He was something at 135. And you are spot on, was a great body puncher. It's a shame, I wonder how great Shane could have been had he not skipped 140, or had his confidence beaten out of him by Forrest.
