Personally guys like Samuel Peter and Bermane Stiverne are what I don't think champs should look like (that being obese), but to each their own
Yeah, I wouldn't bet on anyone running that gauntlet. But you think Marciano more likely than not beats any of them in a one-off fight?
He's got to be favourite against all of them if we're considering them as one-off fights. I've come to that conclusion because : he dominates so much talk on this forum - he must have been the greatest thing ever. Look how many Marciano threads there are. He's special, unique.
He lives in their minds. Much of it has to do with time. In another ten years or so Ali will be nothing more then a to short not modernly trained over hyped fighter by old men. Much as I think Dempsey and Johnson and Jeffries were over rated. I already see posters claiming Ali would get killed today.
How do you do this? He was a small heavyweight. How could we proportionally match Marciano with Liston? That is the question. Putting Lennox in with Marciano. I cannot see Marciano lasting one round. Heavyweight is a whole different discussion. We can match Jones with Robinson. Spinks with Foster. Heavyweights are equal in different eras.
Marciano made a living off of beating heavier men. It boils down to the era as well. Lewis fighting in 1950 doesn’t weigh 230 he probably weighs a lot less and Marciano fighting today wouldn’t weigh 188 it just wouldn’t happen. Now if you want to say no 5”10 guy could compete with heavier men I’d say look up a multitude of fighters that prove that theory wrong. But no if Marciano were competing today he would be a lot heavier and he would have to be. I personally take these arguments based on skill set. Chin, power, corner, stamina, style, speed exc. when you add up Marciano’s skills and consider what he’d probably do with modern training id say night night to Lewis. There are those that say you have to take them as they are I get the argument but it’s a silly one. Take Lennox back to the 50s with his skill set and no weight training all cardio and he weights 210-220 for his career. Just my opinion
He made a living beating older men.Who are all these bigger men he beat? At the age of 20 Lewis boxed as a SuperHeavyweight in the Canadian Games. Lewis is 6'5" 7.5 inches taller than Marciano, how much under 230lbs could he reasonably be expected to weigh?
Could you maybe stop spreading Rockista fairytale viroids around the board?? Five of the polled men were trimmed 235 SHWs, one was a 218 tua-build bulldozer and another ate 185-pounders for breakfast. For some (viral) reason, these votes are full of bull****. Rocky is 3 - 0 at that weightclass (>= 218). Repeating myself: THREE FIGHTS! Want to see those monsters? Bill Wilson 229½ 41-11-2, Johnny Shkor 220½ 30-18-2, Humphrey Jackson 254 4-2-0 Put him in with Schmeling, Dempsey, CW Holyfield, Patterson, De Leon or both Spinks AND STOP SPREADING VIRAL CRAP!
Sooooo you’re saying he’s undefeated that’s a step in the right direction with your treatment another compliment you get a token
Average man he faced was almost ten pounds heavier then him. Hence made a living out of beating heavier men. I don’t recall saying shws. Also the average Marciano opponents age is far less then many champions. Stop spreading lies and calling out Marciano for having to fight older men yet you refuse to do that in regards to most other HWs
