Would love to see this fight on the undercard of Usyk v Fury. My money is on Anderson. Boxer has a big advantage over the puncher. Think it will be via decision.
I think both are overrated by their supporters, neither are bad fighters but neither are the future of the division. If the fight were to happen now, I think I'd favour Anderson ever so slightly. But Bakole would make it rough and it would be a gut check type of fight for Anderson. He either rises to the occasion and rides out the tough moments to win on points or capitulates and is stopped. I think he can win a decision as Bakole usually fades late so he just has to survive the first half of the fight. But I doubt they'll stick him in with Bakole or anyone else as dangerous as him just yet, the Martin fight showed he has weaknesses that need to be addressed.
I think Anderson has a better chance of becoming world champ in the future than Bakole, after Fury and Usyk retires. I can see Joshua being champion for a bit after the two big dogs have had enough. Agree it is a little too early to fight someone like Bakole but I defo think Anderson could beat Bakole now. Who do you think is the future of HW boxing if not Anderson? I like Jalolov over Torrez, its hard to judge Sanchez.
Agree Anderson has more potential, I could see him picking up a title, I mean if Stiverne and Martin can be champions then so can Anderson, but then of course guys like Tua never won a belt. But I think he has a proven promoter with the connections that should be able to get him a shot vs someone he can beat. Not sure who will become the top dominant heavyweight of the next era, it's impossible to really know. Based off what I've seen Jalolov does seem the most obvious choice, with his Olympic pedigree, size, movement, speed and power. But it all comes down to how these prospects progress and develop. Fury when he turned pro was quite honestly awful, never looked like a future world champion, but he improved hugely over the years, same with Joshua to a lesser degree, looked the part but his skills were not up to scratch but he made very obvious improvements with every fight in those early years and became a world champion. Yoka in contrast turned pro and despite having a good coach basically fought exactly like he did in the amateurs and never really improved at all and so obviously never became world class. So while Jalolov looks the best of the bunch now, if he doesn't improve as a pro like Fury and Joshua did, someone he might beat now might very well beat him a few years from now. What I look at in rising prospects is if they show improvements because that shows they haven't reached anywhere near their potential yet and have a higher ceiling in terms of what they might do. But right now no one stands out, Jalolov isn't fighting anyone that can test him so he might struggle when he does step up and Anderson hasn't shown me anything new either other than he might have a decent chin.
Really interesting post, enjoyed reading this. I completely agree with this except that I think Anderson deserves a bit more credit for his basic fundamentals. Yoka is truly the spitting image of Audley Harrison.
Fundamentals are good an all but the more elite level skills which Anderson is yet to develop is what will see him maximise his potential and reach that elite level. His defence, his lack of counter punching will cost him when he steps up if he doesn't improve in these areas. Fundamentals is why many rated Spence so highly, but Crawford showed that elite skills will trump fundamentals. He just doesn't stand out as exceptional right now to me, one of the more talented prospects for sure but talent and even fundamentals only take you to a certain point. Wlad had more talent and better fundamentals but he still lost to Sanders and Brewster and it wasn't until he developed under Steward that he became truly elite. But he's young and has time, he's nowhere near prime so who knows. I don't think Yoka is even as good as Audley if I'm honest. Harrison at least showed some improvements as a pro, learning to fight on the inside a bit, problem Audley had was he was a massive coke head and once he got all that money from the BBC to feed that addiction his pro career was basically doomed.
Wouldn't shock me of Bakole did stop him in the first half that's his best path to victory before his gas tank empties. Anderson much like Yoka doesn't counter so only leads and against Bakole you better have a good chin because he will test it. As you say it would be a good scrap and a real gut check for Anderson, really test his mettle and show if he has the heart to go with the talent. Which is probably why this fight won't happen. Anderson will be coddled for a bit longer.
Anderson is predicted to be some future champ right? The guy who will take over. When Joshua was fighting guys like Charles Martin on his way up he was dispatching them with ease, domination, devastation. Anderson was rocked badly several times and looked like Martin could pull the upset in several moments. Bakole is an absolute handful, and has blown through experienced tough guys who brought more to the table than Anderson. I see Bakole doing more damage than Charles Martin.
