Chavez wins hands down. Chavez is the better ring technician and has a far higher ring IQ than Sugar Shane. Wouldn't be a blowout, but, Chavez wears Mosley down for a clear decision or possibly late stoppage. Most likely a decision win for Chavez. Can't envision any scenario where Mosley beats Chavez at this weight. Chavez was a machine at 130/135. It would take a fighter much slicker than Mosley to have any chance. Mosley has good power at 135, but, in this matchup it would be of little use. Chavez was nearly impossible to hurt at that stage of his career.

Chavez takes Mosley to the ropes...then breaks him down. Chavez by late TKO.

How does he take Taylor to the ropes? Mosley was a very physically strong guy and chavez couldnt just physically bull Taylor to the ropes. Chavez often forced opponents to give ground just with mental pressure but i dont think he could physically bull mosley around. That being said im not sure Mosley could win, he often wasnt smart with his feet and his dad was not a good cornerman in my opinion and probably wouldnt help mosley make the right adjustments.

Mosley was no joke at 135. He was a stronger puncher, he was fast very physically strong and never hurt sub 147. I give him a great chance against Chavez. That being said, split decision either way.

Chavez's strength doesn't win this fight outright for him...His head movement and counter punching accuracy will. Mosely was a beast at lightweight...

JC Chavez was a great fighter. A technical boxer with a great left to the body and top chin, however he did have some problems with speed.

JC Chavez lost to Frankie Randal at 140 pounds and got a gift draw vs Pernell Whitaker.

Mosley never lost below 140 pounds, and combined skills with excellent speed and power.

I like Mosely on points in a close match.

Mosley absolutely has a chance here, and to say otherwise means you're drinking too much of that Chavez kool-aid

if Mosley sticks to boxing and moving using his combination and lightening left hands he can grind out a decision but it would be a very hard nights work chaves would keep coming and have his moments

What if mosley physically bullies chavez to the point where chavez has to fight off the backfoot? Mosley is a tremendously physically strong guy for his size(He used to powerlift) and he might be able to pull off some off the shoving pushing tactics that Holyfield used to push Tyson on the backfoot. Obviously these are 2 completely different fighters but Mosley has tremendous strength and toughness in common with holyfield and chavez has the preference to fight going forward in common with Tyson. When chavez wasnt able to get Taylor to the ropes or REALLY get him to run he looked less effective despite eventually dropping Taylor. Rosario was getting eaten alive and he was moving away and staying on the ropes while Taylor was pushing against Chavez for large parts of the fight and lasted longer and was more successful.

I'm not gonna pick Mosley on account of his competition being awful at 135. It's hard to put enough faith in him.

As good as Mosley looked at 135, it would be difficult to pick against Chavez here. Despite Mosley blasting his way through a titlist's run of a couple of years, not one of his bouts even remotely compares to the clinic put on by Chavez against Rosario.

JC had trouble with slick , quick fighters. Taylor could have won had he
not been too macho and go toe to toe with JC. Frankie Randall and
Whitaker gave JC great difficulties. Shane was a brute at 135 and
would be too skillful at this weight. Shane on pts.
