Mosley on points. He's to fast and agile for chavez. He would give him the same sort of trouble as Taylor and whitaker but with success. Mosley by unanimous, unless its blind judges and then it's a draw!
I can still imagine Mosley sr giving Mosley bad advice or messing something up in the corner and costing his son the fight. Horrible cornerman IMO.
Its that thing about having family working your corner. Sometimes it works against you. Roy Jones and Floyd have had there share of family trouble s in there careers as plenty more probably.
True but Jack Mosley just made the impression that he generally doesnt know that much about the sport
Mosley and Taylor weren't really slick fighters. Taylor was beating Chavez largely because of his insane workrate. It wasn't some masterful display of movement, defense, angles, and picking punches like Whitaker's was against Chavez. Taylor's speed and crazy amount of punches thrown was what was winning him the fight. Another factor to come into play is Mosley's size advantage. Mosley rehydrated a lot at 135, which is probably a big reason why he so easily adapted to 147. That could favor Mosley in the clinches, Mosley was strong and very big for a LW. Mosley fights like a speedy slugger. That's basically what the whole "power boxing" style was like. I wouldn't be overly confident in a pick on either side, but I'd favor Chavez for his great accurate punching, doing a ton of damage at close to mid range. Another thing to bring up is Mosley's tendency to go into a defensive shell and not throw enough leather when he's getting hit. He's get discouraged and impatient and look for bombs. To his credit, he more or less dominated the second half of the DLH fight in 2000, when he was sensational. But in other fights, he'd be too worried about the incoming and not throw enough. Both Forrest fights, especially the 2nd when Forrest didn't look all that impressive but Mosley seemed just to be worried about a replay of the 2nd round of the first fight. Also against Winky, mainly in the first fight. Against Cotto, he spent a lot of time holding to slow down the onslaught. He was very much in a defensive shell against Mayweather and Pacquiao, although he was an old man by then (the fact that he didn't go into a defensive shell at all against Canelo made me question Canelo's power) If Chavez starts landing those hard shots to the body and head, would Mosley change up and be more cautious? Clinch more? And if so, would the clinching end up helping Mosley in the long run?
Decision bout all the way. Anyone actually think Mosely wins enough rounds to win a decision over a DKP favorite? He's not winning 10 rounds it'd take to get a split decision win. 9 rounds would, w/o a knockdown, not garner a draw.
