Pacquiao gets his ass kicked here....BADLY, especially inside where the fight would take place.

Remember when Cotto had Pac on the ropes? Duran ends the fight right there. Pac has virtually no chance against a near prime Duran.

Today we look at 147, and think of it as one of the stronger divisions, because TODAY it is one of the stronger divisions. In the late 70's and early 80's Cotto, Williams, Clottey, Mosely, and yes Pacman, would have been second tier fighters. The only welter out there today who might have been competetive with Hearns, Leonard, Benitez, and Duran is Mayweather, and he may have never won a title at 147.

First PAC invited Cotto to the ropes to test his power. He said this without a doubt.

Second, If haters like Bert Sugar ranks him top 15 atg. (who hates odern days fighters) and MAnny hater Steward compares him to SRR and Ali and insinuated hes better than Armstrong, why do you have him so low? What do they see ringside that you dont see?

    PAc ain't no Leonard.

I can't believe that people think he can take Duran just because he beat Cotto :patsch

First, Bert Sugar, Steward, and many others are guilty of massive nuthugging. Second, I rate Pac very highly. He is definitely a phenomonal guy. That does not mean he could be competetive with guys who ultimately proved to be some of the greatest welterweights of all time.

In the late 70's and early 80's whatever weight Pac competed at, he would have had hell to deal with. 126: Little Red, Arguello, Chacon, Olivares, Sanchez, et. 130-135: Arguello, Chacon, Escalerra, et. 135-140: Arguello, Pryor, et. 147: SRL, Benitez, Hearns, Duran, et. It's a lot easier to win titles in multiple divisions than it was in those days against those fighters.

It's not a matter of under rating Pac. It's a matter of realizing how freaking stiff the competition was back in the day, and giving credit where credit is due.

    Duran by Murder.

I own the Duran-Leonard trilogy and a young hungry Duran just absolutely punishes That f'n Runner named Leonard.

If pac's back touches the ropes. You can kiss him good night.

I agree with your picks based on Pac as he is today. However, back when Pac was at 126 I always thought a fight between him and Little Red would have been an incredible spectacle.

Absolutely. Little Red might have been in over his head with such a fast and dynamic offensive machine though. Lopez seemed more methodical in the way he attacked, Manny would be throwing at all angles...could seriously confuse Red. Be great whilst it lasted.
