Naw **** the yellow card system. Can you imagine the shitstorm it would be if someone like Steve Mazagatti had the power to deduct from fighter's purses?

I think the UFC bonus system is the way to go.

Personally i think the UFC bonus system sucks. Just pay the fighters a decent wage instead of dangling a carrot. Im all for the Yellow and Red cards. It worked very well in PRIDE. Im not expecting to see it in the UFC though.

Watch Rulon Gardner vs Yoshida and tell me it's fair, that was outright robbery. There is no third party to appeal to, no way to get a hearing, you just arbitrarily get money stolen from you from some jackass.

Anybody who wants to take money away from fighters in any way shape or form, to any degree, doesn't deserve to watch the sport.

If you want to take 10% of fighters purses, you should have to physically take it from them.

 

Yeah he sure payed Werdum. So much so that he tried to cut his salary in half and now he gets more money in SF. Some contract aye?! Top businessman there.

 

Well yes, he did pay Werdum, they then disagreed about how much he should pay him in the future and didn't sign a new contract. That happens.

He didn't walk up to Werdum after he was knocked out, take 10% of the money out of his hand, kick him in the nuts, and **** his wife.

There is a difference between not coming to an agreement on future value, and arbitrarily stealing once the contract has been signed.

Since you love Dana so much, you want to give him a way to pay fighters less.

Again, you want that 10%, you physically go take it.

 

Whats the difference? Dana gets to nix he's agreement because he can? And **** Werdum hiscareer and the family he has to feed? He loses a fight and then Dana wants to **** him and pay him less? As far as im concerned there is NO difference. Dana has had run-ins with many of his fighters over pay disputes. I mean **** me Carwin got 40K for the "biggest fight in MMA". If thats not robbing a fighter i dont know what is.

Now contrary to your useless meandering yellow cards are an intergral part of sports. There used in football along with the red card and players are fined for incurring yellow and red cards. I dont see the difference here when an infraction occurs. It works in Japanese MMA so why not the UFC?

 

Cause being boring isn't an infraction as you stated. Soccer doesn't utilize a card system to keep games exciting, they do so to enforce the rules. MMA is a sport not WWE and there's no way to guarantee every fight is going to be exciting. I just don't think its fair to penalize a fighter for doing something that is completely legal in the context of the rules albeit boring. If the action becomes too static on the ground or up against the cage, then simply restart the fighter's on their feet, no need to have dudes lose a percentage of their purse based on the whim of a referee.

 

Lack of action is an opinion. MMA don't get paid enough to lose 10%. The UFC makes good match ups, get angry at a lack of action and pay bonuses in a way to ensure good fights. I think they prove the yellow card system is needed. SF doesn't seem to have much problems with action either.

 

I don't think taking some of a fighters purse is the way to go. Deducting points etc is fine, but not money. I much prefer the UFC bonus system. I don't think theres anything wrong with giving fighters a little incentive to fight harder to get a 50 grand bonus.

 

The point is the infraction incurs a fine.
Either way lay and pray and stall and maul isnt my idea of excitement.
I take it you had no problem with Kalib Starnes display or Anderson's Silva?

 

Id love yellow crads to be in the UFC...thats some of what made Pride so awesome.
