Straight up answer, does it have it's place as a valuable tool for a fighter or does it go against the ideology of the sport itself. In my opinion it doesn't fit within the rules of the game and should be completely eradicated from the sport.

Slapping in literal terms is already illegal.

    Is this about Calzaghe?

Yeah it's illegal, but the rules are not being enforced.

Wish people would say what they mean is all.

In addition - what the **** is this poll about? Slapping, or cuffing, is already illegal.

What about actually losing points for excessive clinching?

Slapping has it's place in boxing (Maxie Rosenbloom). Slapping can also be countered by punching him at the same time. I think anyone who slaps being punched hard everytime he does it will either change his gameplan or lose

Im from the UK and slapping is ok here....Actually thats how we were told how to fight. We also like to grab balls, if it were legal in boxing im pretty sure we would do it too. :yep

Apart from clinching (a part of boxing and boxing strategy), all of these things ARE banned!!

is there not an inbetween, slapping in its purest form should of course be banned, but the person we are looking at here, obviously calzaghe does not hit with the inside of his glove so is it therefore a slap?

How do people feel about "pitty-pat" shots? (not sure how to spell that) What would the difference between slaps and "touching" in terms of judges scoring. If someone landed 30 weak shots to another fighter's 15 strong and accurate punches (or even 10), who would you give the round to? There becomes the argument of what's more important, who lands more blows or who lands more telling blows.
