In his defence he said 'at times' and gave an example :good Elusive IS wrong though, 'tight' would be better
Thats the way I see it too but I tend to try stay away from saying those things these days due to my known favouritism of Morales, it usually gets flung back at me Ps. Saddler has the best chance but I wouldnt put the house on it :good
That Mexicam macho **** would get you a ticket ti slumberland against Lopez...Sal Sanchez was of course a smarter fighter than Morales and a greater fighter as well..Erik would taste Little Red's power soonewr or later and would probably be ahead on the scorecards when "it" happened.
:-( Not for me mate. Morales was a lot smarter than given credit for, and if he wants to Box he will...and I envision him outpointing Lopez.
It wasn't just his chin, it was his fighting spirit. Even when he was ready to go, he never did until he was past it. Round 12 of Pacquiao I, Morales legs were completely gone..and yet Manny still couldn't get him down or out. In Barrera I, Marco never ever landed better flush combination's than he did that night..and for all of the times Morales admitted to being hurt, he never looked like going down to me...not even in round 5.
:deal I agree i think when he wanted he could box and be elusive. I really do think that alot of his lapses in defense was cause that "Mexican Warrior" mentality made him fight that way. He enjoyed fighting like that, but ive seen him fight intelligent, like against Paulie and the 1st fight with Pac,or 2nd fight with Barrera.
True, true . Morales was a fairly upright, rigid technician when he fought that way. It usually get's said that he had 'underrated' boxing ability, but I think it gets just as overrated at times. I think he got drawn into wars because it was his considerable natural strength and where he excelled the most. He didn't have the naturally smooth, efficient counterpunching style that Sanchez had and would for that reason be unable to make this a boxing match. If he tried to backpedal, I get the impression that Lopez would have had a better chance at walking over him. I just see him getting pulled into a shootout and ultimately losing in a blaze of glory.
Very true, he boxed to his strengths in all 3 of those fights, 3 of his best performances, yet typical Morales, he still found time in all 3 of those fights to exchange voilently.
What about the last 10 seconds of round 7 :admin Those were technically perfect pinpoint KO combinations that landed on Morales chin, as soon as I seen him respond simply by firing straight back, I knew it was gonna take something special to drop this guy in his prime - that special never happened - until past prime at least.
One of my favorite moments ever. Barrera lands a three punch hook combination flush...Morales looks as if he's about to fall, then just shoots back up and exchanges furiously. Epic.
:goodFlea When I said elusive I didn't mean as in David Haye getting on his bike and running around the ring. Just in terms of not being hit as often, slipping the shots and countering. Which Morales is more than capable of doing. He can fight smart when he wants/needs to. I feel he got involved in a lot of wars because he has a great chin and dosn't feel he needs to back down. But against someone like Lopez you don't have that luxury. :good
