come on now steel...its how many you land not miss..i've watched the fight 5 times now and every punch and who was effective at their style and who was the champion and who would have left the best impression in the judges minds who won. I had only Ward winning 3 rounds but gave him 4 in a few close ones but nothing to suggest Ward gets them. He didn't land more/backed up ( a no/no if you are not the champion ,and was floored and pressed through out the fight)..watch the fight CLOSELY you will see Ward lost and watch with no sound and see if you see the same fight.

I like both men, and was excited for either outcome going into the fight. And it delivered. It was a close competitive fight - however, I voted YES to robbery, given the following facts:

    1. The man who threw more, and landed more, clean heavy punches - PLUS scored a knockdown AND was unified champ - lost to a home based challenger
    2. An American P4P king means WAY more big fights to charge the public PPV for, and to raise the profile of boxing in the USA post-Floyd. This is obviously very valuable.
    3. Roc Nation obviously used their sway to get their guy Hooker a gift in the preceding fight
    4. Roc Nation have overpaid Ward considerably since they signed him - they NEED him to be a PPV star and crossover hero to claw some money back. So they needed this one way more than they needed to protect Hooker (which they already proved willing to do).

I hate crying 'robbery' after a closely fought contest...however, a UD wherein the home country judges only scored 1 ROUND out of a possible 18 across 3 scorecards in the latter half of the fight - when they KNEW this was Ward's only path to victory after the first 6 rounds is beyond fishy.

Ward's face told a compelling story too.

Of the first 4 rounds 1 of a possible 12 rounds was given to Ward lol. Like I said earlier, boxing rounds are 12 3 minute fights. After the 4th round Sergei didn't bring the same energy, ring generalship, effective aggression, clean punching or defense he did in the first 4. Honestly, I think him KD Ward in the 2nd gave him too much bravado.

Question for some of y'all, how come the three American judges wasn't a talking point prior to the fight? Sh1t was a close fight, and sometimes the dude you're rooting for doesn't win. Doesn't=robbery

I think this was even worse than the Pacman Bradley 1 verdict...shocking

I always had respect for Ward as a man...sog...is a moniker he will have to dropas it suggests virtue & honesty, Ward cannot claim to be an honerable after accepting this deceision.

C'mon Alex Ward was the winner before they left the dressing rooms as long as he was still standing at the end. He l0st one point for KD & should have had at least one other for fighting dirty

Last night I thought Kovalev did enough but I don't think it was a robbery. Close fight, huge credit to both.

Everyone is throwing the word horrible around . Which is understandable because it was .

Lederman own scorecard was horrible as well .

    Real Talk .

No way SOG won only 4 rnds .

    He won 5 , possibly 6.

Don't even let me start with Malignaggi scorecard.

It was a lot of really bad scoring last night .

Ward "won" because he is the new anointed one to replace Mayweather That was decided before they ever got in the ring. If Ward was on his feet at the end he'd won. Now watch Ward weasel out of a rematch

Bad poll options. You can think Kovalev won and still think it wasn't a robbery. Robbery is Chisora Helenius or Lewis Holyfield I, where the rounds and punch stats are lopsided and anything other than a win is inconceivable, not a close contest where the probable winner got a narrow loss on the scorecards.

A "close contest" where the judges had Ward dominating the last half of the fight?

Clemens, the only judge who gave Kova a round in the last six had Ward winning 7 straight rounds prior to that. Extremely suspicious scoring to say the least.
