    Resuming the series I started a while back.

    Which of these men would you favor against Larry Holmes, prime for prime, with every man giving his best possible performance that night? Pick as many (or as few) as apply.

    Not trying to stir debate. I just want to get everyone's votes on the record.

    Before anyone complains, please note that Holmes v. Dempsey, Louis, Liston, Frazier, and Foreman were already covered in other threads. Feel free to go back and add your votes to those if you haven't already!

    Marciano, Ali, and Bowe are the only ones who could possibly beat Holmes, and that's not certain either. I couldn't even pick Evander to beat Holmes, although he would push him far.

    Why on earth Rocky > Tyson and Bowe > Lewis (when chin is no issue) ?

    Oh that one has no chance whatsoever. The one who DIDN'T actually exist except in the imagination of his most rabid supporters however stops Holmes with the first punch he lands.

    Lewis was had a boxer style (though he could hit 4 sure), which is not in his favor against Frazier.

    Actually you mentioned probably a lot of fighters that would beat him h2h and i was nice not picking every single one against him, because h2h all them were terrible matchs for him except Ali that stylistically would be more competitive.

    Lewis,Tyson,Fury,Wladimir all them a nightmare for Holmes.
    Marciano maybe would lose by decision but Holmes would take a beating to the body.

    Ali- wins a close boring decision over Larry
    Frazier- Joe is a nightmare for Larry, Joe by a decision, similar to Frazier-Ali 1

    Tyson-Holmes 50-50. Holmes was vulnerable to big right hands, but if he survives the first 6 rounds, he could wear Tyson down. Can't decide

    I'll have to think about the rest.

    Probably Ali, maybe Lewis and possibly prime Tyson. Tyson has an advantage in that he took Holmes out in 88 when Iron Mike was peaking... but Holmes was at least 7 or 8 years past his best.

    A prime Holmes would last a lot longer than the 38 year old version did and if that's the case and Holmes can take Tyson into the deeper waters of the later rounds then that also alters the dynamic and it is easier to start favouring Holmes.

    I might favor Tyson by style but not by greatness. His style was a good matchup for Larry.
