All nine named polling options were born in Puerto Rico, whereas Benitez was born in the Bronx, so I wonder if that's why Frazier Hook omitted him. (I always think of El Radar as a native New Yorker despite his association with PR, just as I think of Napoles as Cuban rather than Mexican. Likewise, I think of Camacho as a Puerto Rican rather than a New Yorker.)

Ortiz by a large margin - maybe not in terms of ability, but overall standings.

Yeah, despite his being a citizen of May-he-co, I always think of Napoles as Cuban..and for the reason that he fought unlike most Mexicans, besides birth in Cuba.

    Agreed.

Gomez was probably the greater all-around talent, but Ortiz's superior toughness/resilience and deeper resume leads me to rate him over Gomez as a fighter.

Yup, but this is troubling for some including myself. It's this little tidbut that makes me rate Gomez over Ortiz, Sanchez over Saldivar, etc... although I think Sal's resume stands up well enough as well.

    Ortiz is the greatest.

Gomez, pre-Sanchez arguably the most complete fighter I've ever seen. One of nonetheless.

Hence why I rate Sanchez so highly. Gomez was an Animal.

He wasn't quite the same post-Chava, but it didn't derail him like it could many other fighters. He was a legitimate warrior and one of the greatest punchers in ring history. 50 years from now perhaps when his division earns further credence in a historical sense, he'll still be No. 1.
