Prizefighter? Are they fighting under LPR? I guess it is a bit of fun, they always seemed to these tournaments in Britain from the 1890's to the 1970's. But if you look at it, sadly what tended to happen would be of the four winners, one will be injured unable to fight the semi, thus someone will only need to fight twice, and will probably win because of that. That will be horrible TV, as the winner of the only semi, will have to be given a fair rest before the final....
I am really looking forward to it but fear it will turn into a farce aswell. I just hope one of the finalist cant compete and a fresh Chisora then steps in and wins it
Should be a fun format and it's good to see the eight guys happy to give the three rounders a try. I was also surprised Chisora wasn't in the original 8 and would of thought he would of had a pretty good chance if he had been. Hope it all goes well and that there aren't any injuries - a Rocky 2 style double ko would be a disaster. Hearn has said he'll be doing tournaments for mw, ww and fw if the format is successful, welter tourney should be just in time for your comeback Jeff. Anyone else going along? I'm going in a group of 6. £30 unreserved and £50 ringside was too good to turn down.
I can't see any of the first round winners pulling out. This format has been used in K1 and Muay Thai for a long time and pullouts are rare. Muay Thai is tougher on the body than boxing.
