I say the kid from Guantánamo Cuba has all the necessary tools to beat Martinez. Lara has the edge on a great amateur background ( 300+ fights ), is World amateur Champion, was the favorite to win Gold at the Olympics before he defected, he is just 27 years old, is also a southpaw, has solid power, great skills, talent and is learning very fast in the pros! Even right now in his young career, I feel that Lara takes Martinez!

    Opinions ???

Lara TKO's or UD's Martinez... :good

Lara isn't quite ready. Give him another year and I'd tip him to beat Martinez.

Right now Martinez, most probably by decision, but in a year or two, who knows, toss-up. But Lara is a hell of a fighter.

Too early for Lara but I can see him beating Martinez in a couple years.

    Why the disrespect ? :-(

Well, for your information, Lara has way better amateur accomplishments, and comes from the Cuban boxing school ( known Wordwide for it's superior training, results and skills ). There have been many Cuban amateurs turned pro who have beaten seasoned pros early in their careers, so Lara is more than capable of beating Martinez. :good

    And he will... :bbb

This is the wrong type of poll to be multiple choice. :huh

Anyway, it's way too premature to put Lara into this kind of match-up.

True, many Cuban former amateurs have beaten many seasoned pros early on! Lara can do it, no doubt about that! People are just voting merely on Martinez' pro record but don't see the huge potential, talent and skills that Lara has..Plus, never forget those 300amateur fights !!!!!!!!!

Lara defeats Martinez possibly by late TKO.

Lara KO early. Lara has beaten some of the best Euro-level amateurs this world has seen.
