Those 300 amateur fights did not help Lara develop an inside game so it doesnt mean ****. Lara is a good fighter but to say he beats the Undisputed MW champion of the world right now is ludicrus.

I have been saying it all along. An inside fighter with high workrate and a good chin would put a hurting on Lara if he doesnt improve the inside game. He seriously just panicks and gets tha hell out of there as soon as possible.

How would he deal with Angulo or PW pushing him to the ropes throwing 1000 punches a fight and with solid chins?? If he can handle that then yes he will be elite. If he cant he will just be one of the many cuban fighters who could not convert to pro.

I really like the kid but that inside game definatly needs to improve to be elite.

Que hay Compay? Brothe, Que tremenda pelea sera esta!

I think Lara does have all the right tool to beat the top guys, but right now he's been feed poor opposition. Martinez is WAY above the fighters Lara has fought. Lara needs to get tested against guys that are around Martinez's level before stepping in the ring with him just to get him in that elite "mind set".

Going from fighters that don't challange you to fighting the Champ (with a difficult style) is a recipe for disaster. With that being said, right now I'll say Martinez take a UD victory. But give Lara some better comp and a little more time and I think he'll beat Martinez.

This is the pro game forget about the amateurs. As of right now Lara is fighting tomato cans while Martinez is fighting (and beating) world class opposition.

You see, I am not like everyone that gets " scared " with pro records, Titles or names. The Cubans are trained to defeat everyone disregarding names, nationalities or records and almost always they do. The pros are just a completion of the amateurs, and Martinez early opponents were D-, just look it up in boxrec. Lara ( in his first 14 fights ), has fought at least opponents with winning records, and has looked very good against all of them. If you need more proof that this can happen, just wait until Rigondeaux gets his hands on seasoned pro Ricardo Cordoba and then we will talk...

Martinez while a good pro, will be eating counterpunches from Lara all night long and will get outboxed. Sorry guys, my mentality is just very different when it comes to pros and amateurs. :good

All in all, that's my humble opinion!

órale compadre, tremenda pelea pero Lara le gana !

I do understand your good points. I think Lara is too skilled not only for Martinez but also for Cintron, Angulo, Cotto etc etc etc, yeah, I said COTTO ...

    Blessings to all ... :good

Yeah, I won't argue with you on Cotto. Cotto is past it brother. not only that, he shouldn't be in that division, that's too big for him. Lara does have mad skills I really hope we see him fight Vanes soon since they've been talking trash back and forth. KOing Vanes will get him some good attention, and people will start to understand that 300+ amature fights shouldn't be overlooked.
