Bit of a shootout this one. Who takes this?

Barely have Wilder here, as I just think he would have been able to crack Rahman's very suspect chin with a massive counter.

Wilder by KO, never rated Rahman.

I would NOT count out Rahman. he had a fantastic jab and a good punch.

Rahman had a great jab and he could really bang.

This could go either way, but I'd give Rahman better than 50/50.

Rahman didn't have the greatest chin, but he's a way better boxer than Wilder. You don't need have a great chin to beat Wilder. Obviously given the vulnerabilities of both it could go either way, but Rahman deserves the benefit of the doubt based on superior skill/resume.

    Wilder catches Rahman first.

Rahman is a funny one. Ices Lewis and Sanders but gets brutally KOed by Maskaev. And if you were to forgive him for that being a fluke, he goes and does it again in even more devastating fashion. I'd probably ever so slightly favor DW here because although he doesn't have the top tier win, I think he was much more consistent.

Wilder by KO, Rahman caught Lewis napping but that doesn’t mean he wins this. Still arguably one of Wilder’s toughest fights outside of Fury (and alongside Parker and Ortiz). I could see the upset but I have to back Deontay in this one.

Maskaev and Rahman are both better than every single fighter Wilder has beaten.

I disagree. Maskaev wasn't better than Ortiz and and I'm not sure he was better than Stiverne. He lost to Whittaker and the other Corey Sanders who is worse than Breazeale. There wasn't much excuse for Rahman to lose 2x to him.

Stiverne was a bum. Ortiz completely unproven.

Ortiz was a good win but Stiverne imo was absolute pants. He never went on to do much and lost every major fight he was in. Massive imo was a better heavyweight although he himself was not great.

I think the Jennings fight and the first Wilder fight showed was a contender. He was avoided by certain guys (namely Whyte) but also shot him self in the foot with fights (AJ). Still I think the ability and power he showed in the ring placed him as at least a top 10 guy when Wilder beat him.

Well all I'm getting at is Maskaev lost to guys worse than Arreola. The 2 Rahman wins were kind of an anomaly.

Fair, I think it’s very hard to pick against Wilder in this one. Rahman was a solid contender but as you say, nothing special. Still, I maintain a win over Rahman would be Wilder’s best win outside of Ortiz.
