There was an old thread with this same question that was made well before Ward beat Froch and gained prominence. This one should be much closer.
In h2h match ups I much prefer Eubank at middleweight. It would be close for sure, but I think not being at Eubank's prime weight may be enough for me to favour Ward.
Eubank is one of the most overrated fighters of all time. Ward would have beaten him via clear UD. Mainly due to the fact that Ward's ring IQ is FAAARRRR better than Eubank's.
I agree Eubank is overrated but that is mostly jsut by the calzaghe fans who act like that win was something epic.
Does it matter? Ward is the SMW of today. Eubank fought tougher opponents in a different era, but Ward is the man of today and maybe in a few years time, some good SMWs will come to test him like eubank was tested
Could Ward face Michael Watson, Nigel Benn, Steve Collins, Rocchigiani, Joe Calzaghe and remain unbeaten??
i love eubank but andre Ward has too many tricks in his bag and i'm sorry to say he's on a different level. Pre-Watson Eubank could spring the knock out though. Andre ward is open for an upper cut if a fighter is good enough to land it. But 9 times out of 10 I'd pick ward by UD.
