OK you seem like a reasonable man so I'll give you a reasonable response.

Lewis lost twice in his whole career, and yes he looked bad in those losses - the first McCall loss I think was a VERY bad stoppage influenced by Don King who had very obviously bought the ref.

The second loss no-one could argue about, Lewis was 34-35 years old and took the guy for granted, Lewis's own stupid damn fault.

Now lets deal with WALDS losses (in my opinioni)

Purrity - Same as Lewis V Rahman.....took the guy too lightly, ran out of steam and lost due to stamina issues, same as Haye V Thompson and similarities with Lewis V Rahman only Purrity didn't punch so hard. I can (and have) excuse WALD for that.

Sanders - old guy, not a real contender in his prime yet comes back and KO's WALD with ease, why? struggle with this, WALD just seems to be vulnerable to left hooks, does he not?

Brewster (see above remarks, WALD cannot defend a left hook effectively....sorry to all the fanboys that think it was down to stamina/vaseline/CIA/little green men etc, WALD lost to a big left hook - AGAIN.

Since then WALD has carved some kind of a path through the HW division, and yes he's avenged one loss but he hasn't exactly impressed, he's a very timid fighter who obviously knows that his chin isn't stellar.

Maybe he'll prove me wrong in the next 10 fights but I doubt it.

Apparently Tony Thompson is the man they're talking about next. I haven't seen Thompson fight, and from what it looks like, he's 36 years and doesn't have that many big wins. Still, he's a rather large hard hitting south paw with a fair amount of experience and has never been knocked out. Could be somewhat of deadly cocktail for Wlad. Nevertheless, Wlad is heavily favored and probably should be, but I think it will be interesting to see how he approaches another southpaw, and especially after taking a fair amount of criticism for his last performance.

I think that you are too quick to call some people nuthuggers, or fanatical fans. See, the simple difference between you and I, is that I don't believe that todays fighters are as bad as people make them out to be. That isn't just Wlad. That is the top fighters in the heavyweight group, and every other weight class. You can't label someone a fanatic just because they consider the top heavyweight boxers of this era to be better than you consider them to be.

You certainly have never seen me sit back and claim that Wlad has already accomplished enough to be an ATG Heavyweight boxer, have you? Of course not, and if I did that... then I would expect to be considered a delusional fan. I have repeatedly said that Wlad is putting together an impressive career so far... of course he had some ugly losses, but he learned from them. He is in the midst of his prime right now, and let's see how well he does from here on out. After he is retired, we can look back and judge his career as whole. Then we can decide where he stands on the ATG list, or if he even stands in it at all.

If you think about it... the fanatical fan tag has been placed on me, since back when Wlad was going through the down time in his career. I was considered delusional because I kept on telling everyone that I still felt he was the best in the division, and that he would be back as Champion again. I was laughed at of course, and everyone let it be known that the next person he fought who had a punch would end his career... but it's still going, and going strong.

It's impossible to hold a discussion with some of you guys. If I talk about a heavyweight fighter being good... you guys will claim that I am only doing it to hype up Wlad somehow. Just like before he fought Brewster the FIRST time, and you guys were bashing me for coming on here and talking about what a good chin, and power that Brewster had. I had actually followed his career, and you guys were claiming that I was trying to pass him off as a legit opponent. After he wins... somehow you guys ignored what you said before, and most had Brewster as one of the top 2 Heavyweights in the world after he won. Yet, then you guys turn around and pretend that I am all the sudden a Brewster hater when I was the only one on here talking good about the guy before the fight.:-(

No frickin' way. Sanders didn't hit Wlad with hooks, those were straight left hands from a southpaw, Sanders landed his money punch. The equivalent of Wlad's own right hands landed squarely on his jaw & chin yet he still got up. That shows heart to me at least.

    I agree with this post.

I'd like to see how Wlad comes out against another southpaw with some power & one who's never been KO'd - yet anyway. :D

At this point it's not Wlad vs. Lewis talk yet, Wlad still has a ways to go to be mentioned in the same breath IMO.

If Wlad can unify what Lewis helped to fragment, then he'll have a case for ATG great status over Lewis IMO.

The first knock down was an angled left, not straight, though it isnt strictly a 'left hook' when thrown from the southpaw stance. Wlad is a sucka for that punch, having a tendency to jerk his head straight back when engaged.

I've never taken the time to watch one of Thompson's fights. How does he look in the ring, and what are your thoughts on him?
