Round 1

Kotochigov is feigning the jab up top and then drubbing the outer hip of Gudel with a left hook instead. Gudel is creeping in with a high guard, lunging forward with his weight pitched over his bent left knee. Gudel takes a soft backfoot right uppercut on the nose as he bows inside, and misses a reaching double-jab. Nice body work by Kotochigov, looked all clean & legal but the ref gives him a warning for some reason.

Round 2

Kotochigov is countering with descending ski-lift right hands and whip-around left hooks while backpedaling away from Gudel's artless onrushes. Hands up, Gudel is still doing little to prevent Kotochigov from landing above his ears or bang on the forehead. No head movement from Gudel, and his one duck-and-swerve movement is always in the same direction (to his left) & very predictable. Kotochigov is jabbing him in the face and bowling in underhanded rights on the belt line from afar. Gudel jabbing, missing, swiveling away, wrapping his elbow around his waist to block Kotochigov's body shots, having no success offensively.

Gudel is four years older and debuted professionally two years earlier, but Kotochigov looks to have a big edge in poise & maturity in there. Gudel looking very frustrated, and the Kazakh's boxing so far has been decent but very basic, really shouldn't be confounding Piotr quite this badly..

 

Well, hopefully not as I don't want to have missed too much.. the damn library apparently closes super early on Fridays, news to me, so I just got auto-booted off the computer.

Will hopefully be able to watch most of the rest of this one - and Cieślak vs. Kalenga - on my phone, assuming I get service on the subway.
