I just wanted to know which one of their bouts it was. Since it was an eight rounder it must be the first of their three bouts, the one that took place on December 22nd, 1995.... so this is actually Pong at 105 pounds! Much lower than most fight fans are used to seeing him at I believe. Maybe some people will find the footage interesting, I know I've had it for a long time before recently sharing it. It's actually Pong's first career loss, which always makes for an interesting footnote to fights.

Nice find. I have alot of boxing or Sakon as it's called in Thailand in my MT archive, I really must check what I have boxing wise, i Know I've got lots of stuff of some of the main cross over names, may have some gems.

Ill watch the whole fight in a few hours and let you know if I hear anything interesting anything interesting.

If you have the time, that would be fantastic and appreciated. Don't feel obligated though, I don't want you to have to watch through some obscure not particularly entertaining bout from 25 years ago... Who knows maybe it'll be a good one.

If you ever have anything you want to upload or share even without your own established account let me know. I don't have a particularly huge network but I'm building one over time. I've uploaded footage that film collectors wanted to share with the public over in classic years ago, believe it was the found original film reel a poster had of round 5 of a Florentino Fernandez fight? It was almost ten years ago now and I don't feel like going to my account to check...

How popular is sakon among the Thais? MT is in there blood but do the majority or minority follow regular boxing

No one follows sakon. Well a tiny tiny tiny group..and of that tiny group most are people with vested interest businesswise.

The country gets behind the amateur Olympic team with each gold medalist guaranteed a million baht from the king or government, other big name Thais like owners of big companies also add to the purse if they win gold.

But outside a tiny group of people no one follows it even the fighters themselves.

I wish there was a group out there that would translate and subtitle the commentaries for boxing fights like there is for Japanese anime and manga. Or one that could go back and add their own commentaries for the ones that didn't have them back in the day. But I suppose it's unlikely, given that ours is a niche sport and those of us who like the lower weights or old fights are a niche in a niche. I know that Flea Man did a commentary for one or two flyweight fights a few years ago on his youtube channel, and there is one British guy with an awful cockney accent who's tried a few times, but other than that I can't think of anybody trying what I've proposed.

Really intersting idea I’d never even thought of it. Other than any obvious things main draw back would be the commentator would have already seen the fight so the buzz or excitement, the genuine surprise would be missing, it’d lose that certain something in translation. But in terms of surfing on intersting tid bits of info, sure it’d be invaluable.

I can’t imagine Flea doing that despite all his boxing knowledge Flea can’t speak Thai! Lol.

Can give it a go for some of the shorter Japanese ones if you really want... would experiment with 1 or 2 round fights. Probably be awful at them, my accent really isn't suitable for recordings, but could give it a go at some point
