The #1 ranked 122 pounder Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym lost a UD to Japan's Ryol Li Lee with scores of 118-110, 115-113, and 115-114. Poonsawat drops to 41-2, KO 29 and loses his WBA World title strap while Lee improves to 17-1-1, KO 8. I don't know anything about this Lee fellow, and am curious to see how the super bantamweight division works itself out. Already (in my opinion) the weakest division in boxing, super bantamweight just lost its one current world class fighter.
Indeed it was in Japan. Didn't see the fight, but not sure if Poonsawat can cry about the scorecards, as he got a MD against Hosono in Japan this past January. Poonsawat is 2-2 outside of Thailand, interestingly.
Im pretty shocked by this, I thought the only guy that would beat Poon would be Nishioka or possibly Vasquez Jr in a few years, so this comes as a suprise. As far as I know this was Lee's first fight at the weight, so it'll be interesting to follow him.
