He made 300k in his last fight. 30% of that money went to his former promoter (Yvon Michel) 43% went to pay California taxes Then he paid his training staff. He only brought home $69,000. I understand now why he only wants big fights (Stevenson, Kovalec, etc...)
He will get one really soon. 3 of the 4 current beltholders are Russian, and it's only natural they will fight eachother soon enough.
And why would he get those fights when he is clearly not a big draw? Kovalev or Stevenson would be crazy to fight him if thats all the income he is bringing in. He needs to understand a boxer has to build themselves inside and outside the ring if they want big fights.
This. For a guy with 12 pro fights and a year of inactivity he did well financially, but has a ways to go to be worth fighting for either Kovalev or Stevenson.
Lol You Sir have no clue what your talkin about How did Adonis Stevenson build himself outside and inside of the ring ? He's inactive and considered a ducker Is he a draw lol ? I'm sure your not from QC Is Sergey Kovalev a draw? No he's not, and he'll never be, maybe only in Mother Russia How did he built himself ? How much did he make when not fighting on PPV ? How much did he make vs BHop ? Do you know ? If you dont know, dont even bother replying
The average salary of an American is 44K. That's assuming a 40 hour work week all year around. Artur making 70K for 3 months of work is not at all terrible (yes, he's risking his life, but it's a sport that he chose to make a living on). If he fought 3X a year at 300K, he'd still pocket 210K, which is CEO money at many places. NOTE: I don't have anything against him making more, just saying that 70K is 30K more than the average American in 1/4 of the time.
Its a repulsive reflection of the state of baaxing A ducking boring deck stacker like Mayweather and Ward bring in millions whilst stinking out the joint A devastating KO monster who wants to fight the very best brings in peanuts
I remember the last deal he had was good for 2-4 million a year and he got to just fight bums. Plus, he's probably got endorsements, so he should be fine. Beterbiev is a strange case. He took off like a shot, fought Cloud in his 6th fight, and then stagnated. Everyone was expecting big things out of him, same with Stevenson, but then they've just been treading water for the last three years. No Kovalev fight for either, despite the build up. No Stevenson/Beterbiev fight though they had the same manager. I've got nothing against fighters getting paid, but I'd like to see them work for it. Give the fans the fights they want to see and your money problems will take care of themselves.
I would fight anthony joshua right now for $70,000 take home lol. But yeah if he wants to make real money he needs to start fighting more often, marketing himself more, talking trash and actually fighting people with names.
That's what I want to know too. Not to mention he could deduct his training expenses etc. Some of this makes me think about people who believe the crap politicians spew about US tax rates--like they never mention the effective rates corporations actually pay ( hint; GE pays 4% and Boeing Aerospace pays 0, AT&T only paid 8% but still laid off employees ) Also a lot of times boxers have incentives written into their Ks so Beterbiev may have been paid an extra $100K for a KO win and another bonus for winning a title or defeating an opponent in the top 20 etc. or something along those lines.
That's ludicrous. How can a top boxer fight for damn peanuts like that? Surely the money paid to his promoter count as expenses? Dunno how it works there, but here it would put you in a lower tax bracket.
odds when I worked in the USA as a canadian citizen I was exempt from paying taxes in the USA. but had to claim what I made in my canadian income tax report and got taxed from there.
I don't believe those numbers as he's a canadian citizen. He'd have to pay Canadian and provincal taxes. It might work diffrent for him being Russia but that's how it's worked for other canadian boxers fighting outside the USA.
I'm reading more about it, if he WAS taxed that heavily Canada revenue will work with the usa and he'll get a considerable tax return.
