Why is he getting a title shot after only beating Chas Witherspoon and Chisora at heavyweight?

Hrgovic has been mandatory challenger to Usyk for a year now. In December it will be three years since Joshua fought IBF mandatory Pulev. Hrgovic is due his title shot or compensation.

That is utter drivel. He got a gift vs Zhang and priced himself out of fighting anyone with a pulse while he waits on his title shot. His resume is a joke. He is everything that is wrong with boxing. Not legitimately beating anyone of note, navigating a title shot and not taking any risks while he gets his mandatory percentage.

The last IBF Mandatory was Joshua vs Pulev which was 2 years and nine months ago, so your numbers are wrong. Not been 3 years let alone 4.

Yes the IBF ordered their mandatory before the WBO but rescinded their mandatory which yeah sucks for Hrgovic considering Joshua first fight with Usyk was a WBO mandatory, so the WBO jumped the queue.

Now if Usyk/Fury does happen it means Hrgovic's title shot will again be pushed back even further as no doubt there will be a rematch so forget about it happening any time soon. Maybe late 2023 but more likely 2024.

With fighters fighting once or twice per year, unified champions simply will never make regular mandatories and it sucks. Stuff like this hurts the sport how are sports fans meant to be drawn to this sport when champions fight so irregularly and go years not facing their mandatories.

 

You have to feel a bit sorry for him and other contenders watching Fury collect a career check for fighting a complete novice. Dubois 100% did not deserve his shot at Usyk either.
