I totally agree. If you were watching closely you would have seen paulie sticking out his tounge after a many of hatton's big shots. As if to say I know your the better man but you can't break me. Fighters often do this as a means to salvage some pride from their performance. ****ing shame Mcgirt had to take even that from him.

It takes a certian type of man to be that emotional about being saved from a beating. Thats why you gotta love this sport.

**** Mcgirt if he don't get that.

I understand your point, but the main point is the health. Why getting punishment like that when it's 100% sure you're gonna loose.

Thats a good point. But man, I feel that camps should talk about these kinda things before every fight, to stop the fight or just let the fighter continue & finish the fight just to keep his pride & not getting a TKO on their record.

McGirt is the boxing antichrist. He was sent from below to completely ruin & destroy the career of 90% of the fighters he trains, & if the fighter does not cooperate, then he will finish the deed by any means neccessary.

Its hard to really choose a side on this subject. Paulie was obviously going to lose and had nothing for Hatton. Throwing it in could've saved him from being KO'd.

But then again he never actually went down in the fight. He took some good shots but wasn't that hurt. It was very likely he was going to make it through just fine. So ya his trainer maybe saved him from some big hits but he also took a big hit to his pride. No one wants to be stopped against their own will and Paulie was obviously frustrated and upset about it. Hopefully it doesn't hang in the back of his head and he gets over it.

    how can you say that..

you obviously never played a sport

when you take away the ring, gloves, money, promoting, fans & announcers... a fighters pride is the most prime thing they have that motivates them to go on... when you take that away from him it is like stealing the fighters heart...

i think its an atrocity what happened..

its almost as bad as the meldrick taylor situation... a fighters pride is the worse thing you can take from them!

You feel horrible for him? Were you crying into your body pillow as you watched the fight?

mcgirt was probably very upset that malignaggi wasn't doing any fighting in that round. he said before the round to fight back and throw punches but malignaggi simply wasn't doing anything and just wanted to survive. ay least malignaggi should have tried to fight back but he didn't so mcgirt had no recourse but to stop the fight.

i even think the kirkland fight had the premature stoppage and not this one. the other guy was still fighting back unlike malignaggi. what's the point of surviving if you're not at least trying to fight back?

    I agree with you, completely.

Paulie battled to get to he 11th round, in a fight that wasn't particuarly damaging to either fighter, only to have his cornerman rob him of going the distance. I feel sorry for Paulie, and I hope he comes back and does his best with what tools he has.

Paulie was a disgrace...Mcgirt must feel so ashamed

he wasn't trying to win...of course the fight gets stopped if you dont try

the ref should have deducted a point from him for not fighting

anyone talking **** is a fat ass who never played a sport in their life and dont know anything about competing on a high level.... being forced to quit against your own merit is one of the most embarrassing and terrible things that can happen to you as an athlete...

he was not physically damaged (major cuts, bruises), he was responsive (showing his ability even though he was not performing at a high level), he was continuing on... mcgirt had no business stopping that fight!
