Whats the difference anyway. Its not like the history will show that he quit or was knocked out.

I'm glad they stopped it. He wasn't throwing enough. WHERE IS THE RIGHT HAND??? IS IT STILL BROKE OR HURT??

Hopefully the stoppage will make him fight with more wrecklessness.

his pride was shattered long before the fight was stopped, what pride when paulie didn't do a single thing round after round to even TRY to win the biggest fight so far in his career, he wasn't even remotely trying, what pride are you talking about man.

I felt just as bad for Malignaggi as everyone else did, though the writing was on the wall. I felt that if he could last against Cotto, he'd last against Hatton as well, but we'll never know.

I can't believe some of you guys are so up in arms about the stoppage. His trainer specfically told him that if he didn't show him something he was stopping the fight. He has NO ONE to blame but himself. It's been mentioned like 5 times in this thread already and you guys refuse to acknowledge that.

lol, this isnt the first time buddy has done something like this. hes done this in the past so paulie should have known that buddy would stop the fight if he was just getting a beatdown and doing nothing at all really in return. i thought the stoppage was fair.

I agree with you it was unfair...but no, i dont want to see him again...the guy is only talk...how he would knock Hatton out, how he hopes the ref is not gonna allow HOLDING (ahahah)...the guy is simply not able to deliver. NDou? Ngoudjo? Please...time to go Paulie.

from seeing the highlights in another thread and reading all that was written here, i gotta side with those who say mcgirt wasn't out of line by throwing the towel. a fighters "competitive spirit" should drive him not to be dominated, not just to survive 12 rounds. it ain't like hatton is akin to "prime tyson" where going 12 was at the time truly an accomplishment. if your trainer warns you to throw back and do something and you don't, it's hard to complain to much when he stops it.

Malignaggi looked like he could've made the distance but hey, Buddy made it loud and clear that unless Paulie did more...did anything he would stop it, and he did.

All Paulie needed to do was fight back hard in the 11th. He couldn't do that, and it got stopped.

A bit rough on him but his fate was firmly in his own hands.

    Exactly!

People in this thread giving Malignaggi credit for surviving.:patsch

I'd give a fighter more credit getting KTFO, but clearly trying to win in the process.

Once a fighter stops trying to win, I dont see where credit should go to him for lasting.

......and lets get this straight, the reason Mcgirt stopped the fight was'nt so much because Malignaggi was in survival mode from the 2nd round on......he stopped the fight because even in that mode, Hatton was beating the crap out of him.

There is absolutely no reason for a fight to continue when he's getting beatdown and has no chance to win. Hatton did'nt look winded at all......in fact, by the way he came out for the 11th landing heavy leather on Malignaggi, it looked to me like he was going to step on the pedal and go for the stoppage to the final bell.

**** on McGirt for saving Paulie the beating!
