Malignaggi has lost to the only two top tier fighters he has faced.

He is/was overatde by the US and alot of people who are looking for anyone to beat Hatton.

I dont feel in the slightest sorry for him and i only wish id seen the fight as people hate Hatton for allegedly being arrogant (ive met him and he isnt in the slightest), yet support one of the most arrogant and overinflated men in boxing today in Malignaggi.

Sonny Liston was once asked after giving a figher a beating over the distance if he was the bravest man he`d ever faced. Liston replied sarcastically no his trainer was!

Agree with this. If he felt that passionate about things he should have showed it in the last round. The annoying part is that if it carriedon & he'd got seriously hurt people would be blaming McGirt , the sad part is that this is overshadowing the fact that Hatton came to the U.S. & destroyed one of "the men" at LW.

I have a small amount of sympathy for Paulie. But at the end of the day, he was in survival mode from early on in the fight. He was simply trying to get to the final bell and earn some sort of plaudit for that. But he was the one mouthing off beforehand about how he was a supreme athlete with way more tricks up his sleeve than Hatton. Yet all he offered last night was a jab. Hatton steamrolled him and Paulie went on the run. PM was told by his trainer to fight back or i'm pulling you out. That's were his pride should kick in, but it didn't and it was stopped.

Very good perfromance from Hatton though. Well impressed with him.

that's a good point, hatton got a lot of stick for the way he got ko'd against pbf, but he tried to force the pace and win the fight, and gets more credit for that in my eyes than just trying to last 12.

i see both points but I do feel sorry for Paulie as he seems like the kinda guy who would never give up.

But that's the crux of the issue. He did give up, by the 2nd - 3rd round. Standing there flicking out a jab and ducking below the waist to hug Hatton's legs is not "being in the fight". He ran and higged the whole fight and despite coming across as legit in the post-fight interview, he still didn't do 1/10th of what he said he would in the build up.

McGirt was a disgrace pulling Paulie out even though he lost nearly every round!! Couldnt Buddy see Paulie was saving all his energy to knock ricky out in the 12th!!

****, DiBella said he was going to stop it if Buddy didn't.

Get off Buddy's back. Don't blame Buddy for that shitty performance, blame Paulie. It's one thing to go out on your back after giving it all, it's another to give up after 3 rounds and pretty much look to make it to the bell.

If he tried to actually fight I'd feel for him, he chose not too.

Yeah, but as a cornerman it's your job to PROTECT your fighter, when he can no longer protect himself.

Sometimes it's better to call it a day, than take that extra beating. I agree completely with McGirt. It was one-sided, Malinaggi wasn't doing sh!t. What's the point, a moral victory, the fight was one-sided and Paulie had NO shot at stopping Hatton.

Then if Malinaggi takes further beating people will say where the **** was his corner?

    Good call, by McGirt.

paulie's only got himself to blame, if his pride got hurt by not finishing the fight how is he going to feel when he wakes up and realizes he gave Hatton an easy victory. I couldn't belive i was watching the same fighter who fought Cotto so couragesly. And he couldn't have any problem's with his right hand because he didn't use it. Round after round Buddy Mcgirt was telling him what to do and what not to do and Paulie ignored eveything and went into his shell. He looked like a man Completly out of his depth and Mcgirt did the right thing, He warned him before the round and then he pulled the plug.

I was pleased with the stoppage. I had the Hatton KO prop. Still, it looked like Paulie was folding up and I'm not certain he could have made it to the end on the merits.:smoke :smoke
