The Tszyu that he beat was 35 and fighting once a year.He was finished. In fact, that was Kostya's last fight.Plus,Hatton was allowed to hold and hit constantly as well as use low blows by the worst referee anyone has seen in a long time in Dave Parriss. As far as Collazo is concerned,Ricky got a gift in that one and was holding on for dear life at the end of that fight.Light hitting welter Collazo was the worst welter champ of the alphabets and had Hatton ready to go at the end of that one.Castillo was not only absolutely shot by the time they fought he didn't even show up for that "contest".As far as Maussa,Urango etc.are concerned, they're good but nothing special. You are the only person on this site that claims those fighters are "the best".When Hatton ruled 140,the division was mediocre. In reality,Hatton never beat a great fighter in his prime and wanted nothing to do with the elite at welter where he knew that he would have been brutally exposed. When he stepped up in class,he was destroyed by 2 fighters that started their careers at smaller weights than Ricky.By the way,at welter,Mayweather had 6 fights and only 3 ko's.A 50% ko percentage is nothing special. And when Pac had fought Ricky,it was only the 2nd time that he had ever fought above 135 pounds. It's hilarious reading the threads and posts from a couple of years ago how his supporters were insisting that Ricky would knock Pac out at 140.The truth is that Ricky was a B level fighter who made the most of his good, not great, abilities, favorable promoting and matchups and some dubious refereeing.Ricky Hatton was definitely not a great fighter and no elite.
Is this really a surprise to people? The guy trains his ass off for 8-12 weeks. If he wants to balloon up let him. I don't understand how this is still an issue like it's the first time.
