It`s up to the fighter to be charismatic, like a RAy Leonard or an Ali, you have to be an interesting personality in interviews.

Fights just need to start fighting better opposition the amount of mismatches has killed all interest in boxing and the amount of ppvs with terrible undercards and uninteresting main events is astounding, say what you want about Mayweather but his undercards were most of the time filled with great fights

As far as I can tell boxing keeps getting put behind pay walls like DAZN etc...the sport is becoming evermore a niche product. After being on "free" tv the sport moved to premium services such as ESPN / TSN and HBO immediately limiting exposure. Then the price....they made the jump to 100 bucks for the Mayweather / Pac debacle. I haven't met anyone that felt like they got their moneys worth with that PPV. Frankly no PPV is worth a hundred bucks to me. They have begrudgingly come down to about 80bucks which is still too much. And to top it off they now have commercials, so they really aren't even PPVs anymore! When I started watching PPVs they were marketed as being commercial free. That was the reason you paid to see it. Now that PPVs are the norm they are going back to adding commercials. Always trying to get more, all the while providing a poorer and poorer product. I'm not sure what demographic watches boxing the most. Over the last 20 years or so I've seen PPV prices go from 25bucks cdn to a hundred. Nobody I know has quadrupled their earnings in the same period, but I'm just a blue collar 40hour a week worker.

As much as i want ppv to die i worry what happens if the model dies

I like seeing ppv numbers dip as an fu to the system

However i wonder if its a sign that the sport lacks interest and if it can survive as an app based sport

    I’m semi “trolling,”
Back in the day we used to call it “joking”
I like playing with words tho & don’t mean any harm.

I will say this about Jake Paul,
    not so much his brother.

I think he does love boxing.
I think he legit wants to baby step his way up into the sport & he seems to be pulling the boxers that he employs on his undercards & co main events up with him as far as compensation for their services are concerned he pays them career paydays.

I say good for him & hilariously enough it technically is good for the sport in that regard.

Ive posted this so many times before and i mean no disrespect to any active current boxer reading this but all of the boxers today have no charisma or relatability to the general public so its hard to become a global superstar. Boxing popularity has always run through the heavyweight division and sometimes lower weights once in a while, for examples: canelita is cold, curses like a 10 year old kid and barren, fury talks a lot and makes people laugh and but people can see his persona is too fake, joshua gets anybody depressed, wilder says he wants to kill people, usyk is too intimidating for people, whyte is too disrespectful. Yes boxing still makes money and people like to watch but the world doesnt stop what they are doing like they did with dempsey, tyson, and ali which commanded the worlds attention. These boxers, managers and promoters dont understand the mixture of qualities for a superstar and i wont type it out but people want to watch a boxer that they can also see themselves sitting down and hanging out with them.

Some great points there. The sport is lagging behind the current trend of promoting 'glitzy branded boxers fighting anyone' as the best fights available, often because they are the best fights available. That's not a compliment. That's a detriment to the realisation of great boxing bouts. How much commitment does a boxing fan need to give before having a say? Everyone wanted to see Mayweather v Pacquiao, way before it happened. That is the highest ranking PPV fight in history as far as I'm aware. I'd rather put my money towards Crawford v Spence (if it happens within around a year and as long as Spence is back to where he can be) or watching the LHW division fight each other for those belts. I'd like to see Canelo take on Benavidez because that wpuld pull attention to Canelo's boxing rather than the amount of belts he's had. There's another great recent point made on here about boxers protecting their 0. When I think of great boxers throughout boxing's history, rarely does one of those boxers have 0 losses. The best fought the best, like the best sportspeople do. No shame in it, that's why I'm here.

Crawford is very much one of the best boxers around right now. I respect him more for not slagging off his opponent only to run and hug them after the fight's concluded. If there's real anymosity between boxers then I get how that gives an extra dimension to the bout. That bordering-on-arrogant personality is great on the run up to a fight, if that boxer has it naturally. Otherwise, them faking this big-balls persona only adds to my distrust of the promoting of often s#!t matchups.

I appreciate the post. I don't see myself hanging out with top-flight boxers atm though. I tune in to watch boxers box and great fights happen. I could not really give a s#!t about the charisma that surrounds the event. The general public can stroll down the street and slag off anyone they like. Can they step into the ring and go 12 rounds?
