This guy may be better than we all thought and could be on his way to taking his career to the next level. After coming out and looking awkward asf! in the first couple round Porter went back to his brawlin` n maulin` style and had immediate success. But then he went back to boxing and but not like he did so awkwardly in the first couple rounds. He got on his toes looked very fluid and natural and DSG had no answers for about 3 or 4 rounds which decided the fight.
SP got on his toes and would double up the jab and come in with hooks to the body forcing DSG to hold because any time he tried to catch SP coming in SP would simply slip and counter with left/right hooks to the head. He would then proceed to beat DSG up on the inside using his strenght and short arms to punish DSG.
When DSG started to throw is own jab and look to slip and catch SP coming in SP would then either throw the 1,2 or throw just throw the right and not move in. It was really nice to watch that from SP. He has a strong, short and very quick jab and his hand speed was very, very impressive. he really needs to use that jab far more than he does. Im not sure if this is some new stuff hes working on but he needs to show more of it. This style can cause a lot of problems for anybody in the class and takes him from a pretty good fighter to one of the top fighters in the class whod be a danger for anyone to face. He already is but this takes him to a level where we`d have to consider it a real possibility that he could beat a Spence, Crawford and Thurman in a rematch.

Always rated Porter, well at least after the Devon Alexander fight.

I disagree. I think he's the same fighter as always, as is Danny. That's their limit. He loses to Spence and Thurman again. I don't know about Crawford because he's untested at Welter.

Porter is a special fighter, he's never been given the credit he deserves for his skillset, he always shows little wrinkles here and there, but tonight, he finally put all of the pieces together, and put on his best performance by far.

Porter beat = Broner, Berto, Danny Garcia, Phil le Greco, Alexander, Mallinaggi and Diaz the 2nd fight. He may never be #1 but i dont think anyone will ever knock him out.

Haymon is done with Garcia, theres to many other top welterweights to worry about Danny.

Always liked Porter. Tough guy, great energy, always comes to fight (and entertain).

I don’t think he beats the truly elite, but he’s a worthy champion.

I picked Porter going into this fight, I actually fought Danny edged it if I’m being fair. Shawn fought with a more outside style, I would feel hard done by if I was Danny. It was a close fight though a draw would also be a fair result.

Nevertheless hats off to Shawn he finally won a title in a 50-50 match up.

Porter took Thurman to the brink in a fight I had a FOTY draw and I want to see a rematch of to this day, a razor close loss to the Special One, and besides that, he's never been an easy night for anyone. He's been one of my much watch fighters since the Brook fight, never in a boring match up. Easily one of the bravest men in the sport too, sheerly through his style. He takes risks and it pays off.

His style is ugly, if you have faster hands and can match his activity you can beat him.

With that being said I thought the Thurman fight was a draw too, I picked porter to win it and that was a great fight. He is as game as it comes once his in that ring, he brings the action, and he has an excellent resume now with Garcia.

I agree, i'd pick Crawford and Spence over him but they wuldn't knock him out IMO and i think he'd be competitive with them.

Would love to see Porter fight Brook again. That fight was alot closer than the cards suggested.

Porter beats him easily this time now.
