The reality is that he lost to a 36 yr old and was blowing when he got stopped so I’m my eyes preparation was wrong........

He was touted as being the next big thing in boxing and with the massive Adidas sponsorship deal everyone got sucked in. Granted he’s good but he’s no elite fighter and he defo isn’t the lion in d owse now! I actually think if he had gone with a top trainer and gave out a better kind of picture rather than all this funny handshake crap he could have been huge but I think this loss will haunt him cos the opposition won’t see him as being unbeatable now. Hats off to Tunde for trying but him and FW made a mistake in putting him in for this fight without any sort of test before.

Gee, it's almost as if you could be referring to another pro-boxer from London who fought this year overseas. Wonder who could that be? Hmmmmmm

I saw something in Buatsi against Peraban. A pitiful jab for starters. I reckon Yarde would do him now.

He certainly made a supporter in me. One thing though, he took an absolute pasting, hopefully he recovers OK. He has something to work with, no doubt about it but the LHW division is very strong and arguably a 36 year old Kovalev is the weakest champion. As well as Yarde did in rounds 7 and 8, in terms of ability he is far behind the best at 175.

Thankfully, Kovalev doesn’t hit nearly as hard as he did in his prime, otherwise I would be worried about damage. He seemed to push alot of his punches and I don’t think Yarde had to eat many real power punches - more jolting shots.

Physically he should be fine IMO.

After a nice rest, they should put him in with an Issac Chilemba type. Not a big hitter, but tough and durable and likely to last the distance.

Chillemba is a great shout, even a Murat type would be decent imo.

Losing nearly every round and being sparked by a jab makes you a star now, the only thing I saw was he has a big heart. He was totally outclassed and out worked by a much older guy.

Thought his courage was great but he’s not that good is he. He was dominated except for the one round he had a go. I think he knew his engine is crap and has to go **** or bust in that round after hoping Kovalev had tired. It nearly paid off so fair play in that respect. Carrying that mattress size back around can’t help his stamina.

He is absolutely huge for the weight, I'm really surprised how he makes 175lbs with seemingly relative ease.

It was a thrilling all action fight. Yes, Yarde was losing the rounds, but it’s not as if he wasn’t in the fight and he was unloading heavy artillery throughout.

With the fight being on at 7:30 straight after the football as well, your talking massive views. About 1.7m so far on YouTube and even the post fight interview is not far off 1m.

Even some of the girls in my office and guys with only a partial interest in boxing were talking about it today- and non of them have any concept or care about who was winning rounds. They were just going on about how exciting it was.

Yarde is on the way to being a major star if Frank and co get it right - he will 100% do good tickets in his comeback and big figures on BT.

You can tell by the weigh in that he kills himself to make weight. His arms shrunk to like 60% of their size.

f that's the case maybe it would explain why he drained so quickly after 8 rounds, maybe Cruiserweight is better for him?

He might become a star one day but he's not yet in my view, this is what is wrong with British sport, we praise losers too much.

It definitely would have contributed to him tiring, that and the general size of his muscles also.

Unfortunately he’s one of many fighters who is caught between 175 and 200 IMO. Chamberlain is another one who is too big for LHW but clearly undersized at CW with his lack of power to boot.

I still think Yarde can become a world champion though.

I think he can too, with a bit of fine tuning.
