if you read what I wrote (the lineal will seperate if the winner of Canelo/Cotto vacates) leaving the WBC to GGG and the Ring vacant. But Cotto or Canelo will still be lineal!

But now it is still about the lineal title, as long as the winner has big enough cojones to face Golovkin the lineage and the Ring + WBC belt will remain a single package.

GGG has to beat the winner of Cotto/Canelo to become the legit winner of the lineal middleweight title. The problem is neither of them don't want to fight GGG @ 160 lbs.

As I said. If the winner gets stripped and faces Quillan. The winner of that fight would still be the lineal champ whether people like it or not.

Nobody cares about that tainted lineal title. After Golovkin unifies belts, he will start the new lineage.

Cotto/Canelo will vacate and fight a trilogy.

GGG will beat up Johnson in december/january, then fight Lee/BJS winner, for all the marbles.

Genady will rule the 160 lb division with an iron fist, while Canelo will continue fighting at 155 and Quillin/Jacobs/etc will fight for the paper wba regular title.

GGG vs Lee/BJS fight will be on ppv and will hopefuly do well enough to buy Quillin/Jacobs winner's agreement to fight.

Just because no one does care does not mean no one shouldn't care.

In an ideal boxing world devoid of politics the only thing any boxer would care about would be the one championship. One championship that is never stripped. One championship that can only be lost in the ring. One championship that once vacated can only be filled if the top two face each other.

Sure it isn't how boxing is today but that doesn't meant it isn't how boxing should be today.

Why be part of the problem if you can be part of the solution?

Golovkin fighting for a vacant belt or being elevated is not a solution. Golovkin dethroning the reigning champ is a solution. This has happened before in history with Liston and Patterson, Tyson and Spinks, Johnson and Burns and that's just at HW.

The WBC should pull that belt out of the Cotto Canelo fight and give the winner a giant whale p*ssy

If Cotto wins and is forced to fight GGG, he will vacate and GGG gets full WBC Champ. This Shows that Cotto ducked GGG for longer time now and only hold the belt hostage.

If Canelo wins, ist possible he vacates because he already said he is not ready for 160 and GGG gets full WBC Champ.

There will be no GGG vs Cotto/Canelo next! :deal

    Easy.

    A) Cotto wins, vacates belt, Golovkin will fight someone ranked by WBC (probably Johnson) for the vacate title or will be elevated to the WBC Champ.

    B) Canelo wins, vacates belt, Golovkin will fight someone ranked by WBC (probably Johnson) for the vacate title or will be elevated to WBC Champ.

    C) Cotto wins, keeps belt, fights Golovkin in either Spring or Summer

    D) Canelo wins, keeps belt, fights Golovkin in either Spring or Summer

    E) Canelo + Cotto rematch, stripped of WBC title, Golovkin fights WBC ranked fighter for vacant title or is elevated to WBC Champ.

Overall, we don't know what the winner will decide but one thing is in certain: in no scenario does Canelo or Cotto KEEP the belt unless they decide to fight Golovkin.

Maybe, they'd find a way. K2 would let Cotto and Canelo to have a rematch with the condition that the winner to fight GGG but the problem is at what weight.

A page out of Shannon's book eh? I like it. Maybe GGG can even have Briggs behind him screaming, "LET'S GO CHAMP!"

Lol, no. Then they'd be doing circles.

The weight would be at 160, but... I'm thinking Canelo's team might get them down to a 58/59 catchweight. I know GGG wants the title more than the person, but I think he wants the person more than he lets on.

    Another extension, awarding another duck.
Like they would grow some cojones in the meantime.
This is exactly what they are hoping for, so they can have another high paying fight over Golovkin's back.

Don't know why but I think this is going to be the route. They can ink it on a paper, meanwhile Golovkin could fight Lee/Saunders winner.

I've no problem with catch weights if it enables fights to get made that wouldn't have previously been made.

Did Whitaker stop being WW champ when he faced Chavez at a catch weight?

Or what about Hopkins when faced Hoya at a catch weight?

I could be wrong but I think Louis and Conn was at a catch weight also.

The moment Cotto stops being champ is the moment he loses in the ring or he vacates and a 1v2 fight occurs.
