Possibly the best boxing highlight I have ever seen! Thanks GreatA

Checkout GreatA's defensive boxer's highlight. Not only did he choose an amazing song "Nara" by Posthumus but I could watch Archie Moore and Jersey Joe Walcott do their crafts all day long. You can see why James Toney and Bernard Hopkins always refers to watching films of Archie Moore and Jersey Joe Walcott and no one else.

(Doesn't the music "Nara" flow so nicely with Walcott moves??)

:16-:20 what a move by Jersey Joe

    :45-:47 is sick!!!

    1:13 Just amazing head movement

1:25-1:28 how the hell did he do that?

    2:16-2:20 That's art right there

4:48 They dont teach that one in the gyms! WOW

6:31-6:35 is filthy. It never gets old. Ali is a god.

What's your thoughts on some of the cute slick tricks displayed here by Walcott, Moore, and of course Muhammad Ali(with his ridiculous footwork and head movement).

This was really aces. Ali's and Walcott's footwork - wow! You've seen it dozens of times, but it just never gets old. Would be nice to see a really good comparison of them in this aspect.

But watching Moores, Duran's and PBF's more static defence is almost even more of a pleasure. I haven't watched much of PBF, but the highlights of him could just be the most impressive. It's just so ecnomic, but still so watertight.

I believe that was at the outset of round nine, Terrell's first attempt at an offense after "What's my name?" If Ali could do it with Terrell, he could do it with Lewis, the Klitschkos, Bowe, and the other latter day super heavyweights of similar stature.

Many fighters' highlights are more impressive than their records, much like the guy throwing down a nasty dunk always gets the highlight on the nightly sports over the shifty, defensive minded guard who is in fact more effective. I appreciate analyzing full fights and results more than reveling in flashy snippets.

    Bah Humbug.

I remember a certain poster saying that Jersey Joe was a bum. That guy was dead wrong. That footwork and "switch hitting" is down right incredible. He would have taken the title from Rocky had it not been for that fabled punch of Marciano's.

I hope GreatA makes a part 3 and puts in some guys like Miguel Canto, Johnny Famechon, Miguel Lora, Billy Graham, Hilario Zapata and Tommy Loughran, who are all better defensive fighters than the likes of Jersey Joe and Archie Moore imo.

Nice video tho, for sure :good

The discerning eye will note that there is a heirarchy of expertise depicted on the video.

A challenge for the board... rank the following:

    A. Making your opponent miss while you are on the perimeter. (Think of "perimeter" as the "line of fire.")
    B. Making your opponent miss while you are inside the perimeter.
    C. Making your opponent miss while you are outside of the perimeter.
    D. Making your opponent miss where you are under fire and are simultaneously using offense and defense.

Yeah to a large extent, but incredibly skillfully, he smothered his opponent's attack.
Slipping and dancing and weaving is all nice to look at, but oftentimes great defensive fighting is necessarily ugly. A fighter who can muffle and block and roll and bring his opponents' punches to a grinding halt at will is a great defensive fighter.

His nom de guerre was Revolver and I remember his birthplace was Green Bay. Good luck finding him. He was a real jerk.

not sure if you're kidding but i agree. effective, brilliant, blah blah but a johnson highlight would be a john ruiz highlight, except grainier
