Liston was a heavy puncher still capable of winning fights vs a fresh hungry and in shape Frazier

    Who wins and how?

    Decent fight?

Liston was still capable of winning fights after the Ali debacle but Frazier was just too hungry. Liston's jab and left hook would be offset by Smokin Joe's head movement and workrate.

This is actually a fight that we should have seen. Frazier said in his book that he only fought Quarry and Chuvalo to keep busy, but he never mentioned Liston. I've heard rumors that Joe ducked Liston, but I don't know if that's true. Maybe someone here knows more.

I think Joe evades Sonny's jab on the way in, then out hustles Liston on the inside. Frazier too fast, too hungry and too gutsy at this stage for an aging Sonny to beat him.

Frazier wins by knockout against a prime Liston and a past prime Liston, who Listonlickers will insist is well over seventy by the post-Ali period. I do figure Liston beats Young though. Of course. Like almost any good, healthy fighter would and did. Joe ducked Liston like Vitali ducked Evander. The fantasy world of the Listonlicker where he doesn't need to blind top contenders to get the job done VS the reality of Frazier who beat the greatest heavyweight of all time when he himself was going blind. Anyway, hey Tommy, Suzie. :hi:

When was that? I forget. Was it June 1960 or was it July?;)

:rofl Prime Liston was getting his jaw broken by Marshall. This was back when he was only fifty not seventy-eight, like he was for Martin. :-( (Do these numbers even add up? :huh)

Prime Liston was in the 1930s, when he was a sparring partner for Tony Galento.
