Which fighter is going to have a better career post Canelo, Plant or Smith? Smith has already looked good at 175, could plant follow him up and do well there, or does he stay at 168 and try and get a belt once Canelo vacates.
Smith still has good power at 175. Plant doesn't even have good power at 168, so at 175 he'd have trouble keeping guys off of him, I think.
Well, he sparked an ordinarily durable also-ran (who is a little flattered to be described as a former title challenger) in a couple rounds. There wasn't much else to take from those four minutes. I should add that Castillo's reaction to the right hand made me wonder if he wasn't bringing a fresh neurological trauma into the fight. Some would argue that not having to cut the seven pounds has helped Callum's punch, but Castillo is usually tough and Callum has never packed that kind of one-hit naptime power. It was a weird KO.
You guys too overrate Benavidez. He is Uber driver merchant like Plant and Saunders. His only mediocre win is granddad Dirrell. Plant has far better defensive skills and faster than him. He can neutralize Benavidez's offense.
I've never been impressed by anything Plant has done, Benavidez has impressed me a couple of times. Let's hope that fight gets made.
