http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/post-fight-antics-dim-lesnars-afterglow-at-ufc-100-18481 On a night when he stood alone atop the UFC heavyweight division, Brock Lesnars behavior -- not his destructive, one-sided victory against Frank Mir -- was the subject of post-fight discussion on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Lesnar unified the heavyweight championship in only his fifth professional appearance, as he bullied his way to a technical knockout against Mir -- the only man to defeat him -- in the UFC 100 main event. His tirade afterward -- which included a low blow to the UFCs primary sponsor, Bud Light, waving his middle fingers at the audience, taunting Mir and exposing plans for a post-fight sex romp with his wife -- drew the ire of UFC President Dana White. The 32-year-old Lesnar claimed he was headed out to drink a Coors Light because Bud Light would not pay him any money. One of the UFCs highest-paid fighters, he made $450,000 in disclosed pay for his TKO victory against hall of famer Randy Couture at UFC 91 in November. I was blown away, White said. I dont think in the history of the UFC weve had anybody do that. Its not who we are, and, to be honest, its not who he is. You hang with these guys personally, and you get to know them. If he was a dick, Id tell you right now this guy is a psycho and I dont know what Im going to do with him. Hes not. Hes a smart guy. The sponsorship thing was the craziest thing Ive ever heard in my life. Lesnars antics drudged up memories of his days as a World Wrestling Entertainment superstar, when showboating and pushing the envelope of taste were encouraged and profitable. White claimed he confronted the apologetic champion in his dressing room after he left the Octagon. Brock went so far over the top, I cant even put it into words, White said. WWE -- thats what it is. We had a talk. We talked like men, and he said he was sorry. He said, Im embarrassed by what I said. I take his word for it this time.
Dana White probably pocketed something like 40 million$ for UFC 100 and Lesnar gets paid 450K? **** that! **** UFC. I respect MMA as a sport but UFC as an organization is a total ass****er.
Yeah, that was definitely his bipolar WWE persona taking over. I am not sure he can deal with keeping his WWE persona in check when on the big stage.
Yea maybe cleared a million? So what. For as much money as they are making they should be up to 5 million per **** fight like boxing. Totally rob fighters because one organization controls them.
Don't know what everyone's getting their knickers in a twist about. You guys make it sound as if he's the only guy who does this after his fights.
I don't think it's that big a deal, but nobody really likes a poor winner. It's one thing to talk trash before a fight, but that kind of behaviour after a fight is a pretty low rent, no matter who is doing it. Hey, if that's what Brock wants to do, then I guess that's his perogative. Although I suspect Dana White and him will be having a little "talk" at some point, i.e. don't expect a repeat of these kind of antics from Lesnar in the future. Even though ever second word out of White's mouth is an expletive, he's very concerned about his fighters conveying classiness.
Being a heel is Brock's main selling point and it would really suck if they held him down from talking trash in the future. What Brock did postfight was extremely good for business (sans the sponsor **** talking), it doesnt really matter if you think it's classless or not because it's that kind of behavior that makes the people interested. As for me I ****ing loved it, I was genuinely entertained.
WOW! How's that for irony? P.S. Lesnar's a douche! P.P.S. That talk that Dana White claims he had w/ Lesnar in the dressing room probably went a lil something like this, "Yo, Brock, High FIVE! You ****in' KILLED that interview. Did you hear the crowd??? I've never seen them that into an interview. Dude, flippin' em off was mwah. Un****inbelievable . . . but of course you know that I'm gonna have to pretend that I disapprove of your behavior in public. Oh yeah, Brock, by the way did I mention that you ****in' rock?!?!?!
