Three years ago I said Vitali or Wladimir by TKO if Toney finds the balls to fight those guys who he has been calling out and running with his KFC bucket whenever they were the ones to challenge him officially.

Now it's Vitali or Wladimir by death.

a heavyweight boxing tournament sounds like the worst idea in boxing. Talk about turning fans away. The HW division simply doesnt have enough interesting competitors to make this happen. Plus no elite heavyweight would sign on especially the Klitschkos.

why? when the IBF didn't have a #1 HW challenger they put together a Tourney with Povetkin, Byrd, Chambers and Brock to put together a new mandatory challenger .. won by Povetkin who is still waiting on his title shot at Wladamir

and besides, the WBC wouldn't need a Klitschko to sign on in this tourney as it would be to name a new mandatory for Vitali

besides Toney, I'd like to see Solis, Ray Austin (cannon fodder) and Maskaev all participate.

HW tourney's have been done before .. again look at the IBF

    why not with the WBC?

it is just a tournament for contenders for the WBC belt. It is not a tournament to unify all the belts.

If there's a tournament, Toney has to be in it. The Klitschkos are the champs, Haye and Valuev gonna fight each other for the WBA strap, and Povetkin and Eddie Chambers, both worthy contenders, already are in line for their respective title-shots. So there's not many fighters left in the division to stage such a tournament. Toney has got to be in it. James is an ATG legend, he has a big name, and last but not least he's in shape and (literally) hungry again.

Admit it, in this boring division, Toney is one of very few fighters who still generates some interest. You either love this guy or you love to hate him, but you're not indifferent. He generated much more interest than Andre Ward yesterday, who was headlining the card.

^ your right . Povetkin and Chambers are already mandatories for the WBO and IBF

looking at the top 10 for WBC, James Toney does sit #11, but I feel he should still find his way into this tourney, assuming it goes down.

match him up vs Maskaev or something.

haha **** man thats even worse. Im telling you a HW tourny would be the nail in the coffin for the division. We would get to see the all of the supposedly best fighters in the division put on boring fights. The Super 6 tourny has it right because they have the TALENT.

If the WBC want to put together a tournament to determine #1 contender status that's cool, it's their choice. However it doesn't really interest me who the WBC #1 contender is, nor the IBF, WBA etc. I just want to see the best fight the best and you can't rely on any one of the sanctioning bodies to reflect this in their rankings.

wbo doesn't count and the wba is a joke. I think it's time to narrow it down to two recognised belts

Lol, so just like that WBO doesn't exist?

I agree having four recognized belts is a bummer, but at the same time, until things change that's how it will be

**personally I'd like the Alphabet orgs to combine and split it 2 a piece WBA with IBF or etc

    and WBC with WBO ...

at least it would get down to 2 titles.
